Ah shoot! I didn't like that chrome at all on mine, so I just ended up blacking it out. Looks SO much cleaner!
I'm honestly not sure what it is made of, but just about any metal polish will work fine. The problem though is that BMW trim when it oxidizes past a certain point is near impossible to polish out; believe me, I tried and it doesn't get any better with the newer models either!
