Help! Black plastic mirrors

After reading through the older messages, I decided to try some of the sample 303 I got on the black plastic side mirrors of my Dodge. I wiped it on and then buffed it off.



Looked fine for a day. 2 days later: Dull! Blotchy! Can't seem to get it back to the old shiny black plastic look. The black plastic looks like it's faded unevenly. Both were nice and glossy a week ago.



Have I totally ruined my external side mirrors?



I want them to look the way they were a week ago, but clean and protected.

I've always liked the look of Mother's Back to Black on my mirrors, but really didn't like the way it would "bleed" down the doors when it rained. I recently tried putting a coat of AIO over BTB . . . looks great and, so far, is holding up well without "bleeding."
 
I use Back to Black on my mirror shrouds, I apply a lot of it, let it dry for 30min and then buff it. It looks nice and deep black and not greasy, I let it dry further overnight. I've never had a problem with it streaking.
 
On my AU wing mirrors black backing I use Magnum Top Gear final glaze with a foam polishing pad on 800rpm. Then topped with klasse

Not the ultimate shine but did bring them up well

May not work on all mirrors though
 
On the black plastic side mirrors of my Tacoma I use MPPC to get them clean then one of the sealers (Zaino, Wolfgang or EXP). The Zaino seams to hold up the best. My mirrors are hard, smooth plastic with a gloss finish which may make a difference.



As mentioned a few times lately, the sealers will hold up to the heat much better. That's all I use these days on the hard black trim and my wheels and wheel covers. Also, the bug splatter on mirrors is much easier to remove with a layer or two of sealer.
 
But the shiny black plastic was in reasonable shape before the 303. Now it looks dull and a bit blotchy, as if faded.
 
I don't know who else does this, but on all the exterior black trim, I use the clear liquid products that make your tires really shiny (my particular brand right now is ArmorAll Extreme Tire Shine). Before I got the 3M Adhesive & Wax Remover, I used this stuff to cover up the white wax residue and it did the job perfectly. This should bring back the black and shiny look you're looking for.
 
On my 4Runner, I use Poorboy's Pro Polish to clean them up and follow up with Zaino. AIO also works well.
