Help!! Best OTC wax??

I know that's a bad question, but we are planning on detailing a black acura TL and a white bmw 3-series this weekend. Planned on doing Z2 or Z5 over AIO... but found that my ZFX has gone bad. I plan on ordering some quality nuba waxes soon and more ZFX... but is there anything decent OTC to use this weekend?!
 
Well... I guess this is a bad question... :) I would definitely recommend Collinite 845 or 476 if you can get it. Other waxes would include Mother's Reflection, Meguiars NXT... Are you doing this for yourself, or are you detailing a customer's car? Collinite would be my top pick, that is, if you can get it OTC. Good luck!
 
I thought the ZFX was to accelerate the cure time of the first coat which would allow a second coat to be added within 24 hours.



Could you not use the Z2 or Z5 without the ZFX?

Not tried Mother's yet, but I do like Meguiar's#26 and the Turtle Wax Platinum is a good wax and a bargain at Big Lots the last time I looked.
 
I got a can of Megs #26 for a few $ on a package deal. I trie dit on my lowers and have been hooked ever since. Pretty durable and it adds a certain glow liek quality thta Ihaven't found in others. I have both Nattys, S100, Pink, Hi Temp, DP Max, OCW, etc..Megs #26 is a nice addition to any collection, I mean arsenal!
 
In response to the ZFX question... if you DON'T have ZFX... you need Z1. I don't have either now that my ZFX is bad.



As far as these others... how do they vary? Which ones are durable... which ones have the best look... etc.



The cars... one is my mom's friend's car. The other is my friend's neighbor. Both will be done for little more than the cost of materials... but both could definately bring in some referals, which is cool w/ us since we are just trying to get started.

I'm confused by what you just said. About the Z... I was saying that I have ZFX, Z2, Z5 (not pro versions)... but that my ZFX has gone bad so I won't be able to use Zaino on the two details I'm doing this weekend... that's why I want OTC.
 
There is no "best", but you can't beat Collinite 845 or Duragloss Aquawax. Aquawax is wet, reflective and clear, while Collinite is more of a semi-salad oil look with a hint of depth and lots of wetness and glow. I would do the Collinite topped with AW on both.

@ local Harley Davidson shop - S100



all costing ~$13-$15 each
 
if you want durability go with Duragloss 601/ 111 or 105 and top with AW. For a deep dark look #26 is nice. Reflections is a nice all around choice.

Ahh, got ya! I thought the thread was leading to products that weren't otc.

I still say Megs #26. Have been hearing great things about reflections as well, no experience.

The S100 as suggested any Harley shop stocks, is also a good choice. After using both, I would use the Megs before that anyday, for me at least.

Willy ou be bale to go ahead and use your Z product later on that you wnat, but can't this weekend? If so, I might just go for a quick detail wax in spray, that way it won;t just sit on the shelf after this one time usuage.

Yeah I can use Z after I get more ZFX... but may not be detailing these particular cars again for a while. Like I said we kinda know both these "customers".



As far as all the above... I'm thinking Megs #26 sounds good, cuz so many of you mentioned it. Also, I've seen good pics of S100 I believe.. and had no idea Harley had some locally.



As far as Aquawax... does that just spray over any other wax? Like could I use that regardless of what base I used?



Lastly... if I got two products... which would be best for white.. and which best for black... since they are completely opposite colors.

I was looking for some Megs #80 today and found Several local stores to carry the #26.

I may be picking some up too.
