HELP ASAP: Need to remove Armor All...

Folks,

I need some help ASAP. I need to remove the Armor All the nitwit dealer slashed all over the interior of my vehicle. The fumes are driving me insane!

I've used a mild dish detergent and have had some success, but I need to really nail this down because it's making me insane with rage every time I get into the thing...

The dealer said to try "Wet Ones" hand wipes, but that sounds dubious given that they have an aloe product in them.

I would think some warm water and dish soap would do the trick, followed by some vinyl protectant. If for some reason that doesn't work, maybe some Meguiar's All-Purpose-Cleaner (APC) might work. Make sure you clean all the vents too, it's possible they got some in there. Maybe an odor remover might work too, try a can of coffee grounds or open a box of baking soda, that could help remove some of the smell.

Good Luck.

armor all comes off with alittle soap and water. just leave your windows down for awile and the airflow should get rid of most of the odor

Woolite and water, mixed 1 part Woolite to 8 parts water. Put it in a spray bottle, and use this along with a terry cloth or microfiber towel. I would follow by applying Meguiar's Quick Interior detailer to the interior. The Meg's QID has a very low key, natural look, and smells pretty decent.

decent? that stuff smells amazing

Megs APC diluted 10:1 usually removes everything from any plastic surface for me.

Either way, when I do that it strips everything off and leaves it looking 'flat.' Just make sure you use a good protectant once you use whatever you use to take the AA off.

are you sure it's Armor All?

AA does not really have an odor and should be easily removed

with soap and water

Agreed. The dealers around here tend to use really greasy dressings to hide the fact they didn't actually clean the interior before dressing it.

Well, I'm not sure what it was that was on there...

I used some Simple Green followed by water.

That helped significantly. The vinyl on the dash is a little bit shiny still, even after soap and water, Simple Green, etc. Perhaps this is how it's supposed to look -- I can't remember.

Regardless, it's nice not sliding out of my seat anymore every time I approach a stop.

They probably used a solvent based dressing which makes cleaning it off a pain. Try the diluted Simple Green again and you might remove enough to be satisfied.

Simple Green is pretty strong even diluted for leather. On the dash and other plastic/vinyl you should be OK, but once you've gotten the seats and other leather acceptable, make sure you condition them.

Hope this helps
