Help a cripple out!!

Thats great, thanks. It looks like a great tool, "appears" expensive, does anyone know how much it weighs? Also how much does the PC weigh?

There are some used ones available......look around, the for sale section here or E-bay, maybe craigslist......

Anyone here know someone with a used Cyclo for a reasonable price?

Thanks Sneek. Considering how heavy the cyclo is over the PC, I'm not so sure that is the best tool for someone that doesn't have much strength. While I realize it doesn't vibrate as much as the PC, it is significantly heavier. My OneGrip invention enables anybody to use the PC onehanded in either the left or right hand, it completely reduces the stress on your fingers and wrists, and makes using the PC safer and more effective. It's taken 2 years to develop and everyone that's tried it agrees that whether you're a newbie or a pro, it makes using the PC more secure and less stressful. Anyone interested in trying this, just needs to attend one of my free Saturday Garage clinics at my shop in Placentia, CA. Otherwise for the time being, that's about all the info I can divulge right now.

I think Richard from showcardetailing.com created something that would allow someone to use the PC with one hand. You should PM him as you may be a good candidate to test it all out.

Very nice.......:xyxthumbs

Now let's hook this guy up with a killer deal....

Richard,

For promotional purposes, how about letting him try out your product and report back his findings here and add some pictures in for advertising.......?

Sounds like a win win to me......!

What do you say Richard.....?

Well I wouldn't take advantage of a person like that :xyxthumbs ....but I did offer something similar to him via email last night, which is if he's able to come down to my shop this weekend, I'm doing an open clinic, and he could try out the PC with my invention against the Cyclo which I also have. I'd be happy to help him any way I can to help him decide the best solution for his situation.

For various reasons, I'm still not advertising the product or promoting it, but I'm not against letting people know that it exists when situations permit it.

Sorry to hear about the hand. Be sure you have a nice flat, super-clean area to set the PC down on as you will need to in order to apply product, change pads, etc. If you're working outside, a card table could be really useful. Or, you could go back and have the doctors hook you up like Bruce Campbell, Evil Dead style!

Groovy.

This weekend wouldn't work for me, but I will DEFINATELY come down to take a look at it as you mentioned in your email. I would probably be highly interested in purchasing one from you as it sounds like a definate winner for someone like myself.

I live Near Fresno, CA, and while I don't know how far it is from Placentia, CA, I can definately look it up.

I will get back to you when I can make the trip.

Thank you all soo much for pointing new ideas out to me, and sincerely trying to help me out. Because of members and situations like this, I know I will be a lifetime "autopian"!

I will keep everyone here posted on my progress with this dilemma.

According to Google Maps, you're about 3.5 hours away from me. Not exactly close, but not out of the question either I would think.

You're welcome to come down any day as long as I'm not out doing a mobile detail--I'm here Monday through Saturday. Just give me a call or PM ahead of time so I can plan for you to be there (atleast one day in advance)

Good luck and stay in touch.

Sounds great Richard. I hope you're able to get everything sorted out so you can start marketing it more directly in short order.

I'll be on the lookout for this, I could benefit from this as well!

After reading your post I tried this out with using just my right hand on a PC on the hood of my Acura. I tried to NOT use my left hand or arm at all. It seemed to work pretty well. I could vary the pressure and control the movment pretty well through most of the application. The bigger you are the easier this would be, I suspect. The cord is an issue because it ought to be slung over your shoulder and tends to fall off. If you could use your left arm just a little to steady the whole production it would make it a whole lot easier. I don't know how much movment you have, but if you have some movement in your left shoulder and elbow this might be enough. I have to admit my right arm is a little tired right now. I hope this is helpful to you. Good luck.

You guys have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA how much you guys comming up with ideas, inventions, and even trying it out yourself with one hand means to me. It really feels good to know that there are decent people out there that actually care to help, or even to spend a couple of minutes typing to give an opinion. Some of you guys even sent a chill down my spine just thinking that you actually took a few minutes out of your day to sit and think of a solution.

I belong to four other various forums (cars, photogrphy, pilots lounge, etc,) and I have never even seen posts with this much helpful information about a topic without getting quickly off topic.

I want to also send thanks to a certain someone that dug up my phone number, and called me to ask if I was ok, and to let me know that they are sincerely there to help me if I need anything.

Mschuyler: That means a lot to me that you would take the time to try it out......you rock!!!!!!! To answer your questions, I can manipulate a cord over my shoulder just fine, I have used a cheap wal-mart buffer on my car several times since my accident, and while I must have my wife change the bonnet (I'm the luckyist husband alive!), I can put the cord over my shoulder and keep it there. As far as being big......I got that covered, LOL, I am 6'4"/275lbs......so yeah, I should be able to control it when it gets out of control. My biggest question is whether or not the machine is small enough to grasp with one hand and if the vibrating is subtle enough to work with for two hours or more with one hand.

Again, you guys rock, and THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!

Heh, this is Autopia. This is one of the most respectful forums you'll ever participate in. :D

If either of those issues *is* an issue (the size probably won't be, but many people object to the PC's vibration and the last thing I think you want to do is risk "white finger" nerve damage to your right hand), then just go back to considering the Cyclo. And if neither of those is right for you, there are always the air-powered, palm-control units. There's some way for you to do this.

Glad (but not too surprised ;) ) to hear how helpful everyone's being..heh heh, yeah some photog/car forums are just *incredibly* contentious

Trust me, there are good people out there. They might be hard(er) to find, but they are there.

lambostealth, here is my suggestion to you. Go to one of body shop in your neighborhood and explain to them why you would need to try one of their palm sanders. That would give you a reference point. After that, if you decide to visit OctaneGuy to try his invention out, assuming it is a weekend I will meet you there with my Cyclo.

That will give you a chance to get an accurate idea how all three feel to work with.

Also, guys, our Mayor is coming out with his own random orbital this summer. I hear (if I remember correctly) one of features is much lesser vibrations than PC. Maybe somebody can put in the word with David for lambostealth to evaluate that one too before making final decision? Summer is not too far away.

I am still not yet back to work, so I just need to set aside a little money here and there to pay for the trip down, and I will most definately be there.

I currently am still employed by the place I got in my accident, but I have yet to be released by my surgeon to return to work as he wants me to do two more surgeries. I am really contemplating giving up on surgeries as they are very painful to recover from, and the last two made no progress.

Sorry that was a bit off topic, LOL.

Anyway, upon recieving my settlement, I am strongly considering going part time detailing cars, then, once confident enough (if I can) using a tool that will work for me, I might make it my livelyhood. However at this point, with only use of one hand, the other hand, arm, shoulder, back, gets fatigued, VERY quickly. So it is one of the big deciding factors that are weighing my decision on what to do with my money (I want to be my own boss).

I love detailing, and I will never quit doing it for myself, family and friends. But I need to decide if I think I can do it for 8-12 hours a day, 5-6 days a week. Maybe a full-timer can step in with some advice??

Oh yeah, and I will most definately be making the trip down to see Richard for a demo of his seemingly genious invention, as well as hopefully trying out the Cyclo.

As far a the palm sanders and such are concerned, I really don't want to get in too much right now as far as money is concerned to get the compressor, regulator, hose, palm sander, backing plates, pads, etc. I would rather start out with something that wouldn't take up much space, and would be cost efficient for now, until I decide if I want to take on a venture of detailing for a living.

Again, this place kicks much AAAA$$$$$$$$$!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
