Hellooooooo Out There..

SD N' E

I Dont Do Detail.
Hello, my name is Sonny, I am The Owner of a yet to be operating Mobile Car Washing company. I Live in Bermuda Dunes, Which is Very close to Palm Desert and Palm Springs. I know the basics of the business but I do need, and am always willing to learn about new tips, tricks, products… Whatever!

My Equipment:
Mustang Electric Pressure washer
4000W Generator
Lol... A HUGE 200+ Gal Tank (mounted in the bed of my truck)
And a small 1200Lbs trailer

I still need to buy a Vac. as well as all the products. I obviously don’t have much start up money but my intent is to start make some money, Pay some bills, then upgrade all the equipment. My goal is to upgrade into muti-enclosed trailers and have muti-crews.

One thing that I have to battle in the Desert Is the Intense Heat and sun. I did a few washes (w/o my equipment) the other day and I learned a lot real quickly. Simply put, the sun sucks! Lol Well Any helpful info will be greatly appreciated.

p.s. I don’t (at the time) plan on doing details. It’s a talent that I don’t posses.

Thanks!

The sun can be hell on washes. Even worse if you have hard water. Especially on dark vehicles when shade can't be had, I will QEW at least the top surfaces (little down the sides if I'm using the pressure washer) and regular wash the rest. If I don't use the pressure washer I can control the water well enough to do a section or two at a time, drying between. There is a wealth of info on this board. I've been mobile for 16 years and learn more in the past year off this board than any other time (except my first couple months). Some things I can think of to put in your mind.
Learn to look low and at different angles. Cars can look great close up but if you miss the low stuff it'll stand out when you walk up to it. Wheels can look amazing at one angle then at another like crap because stuff gets missed.
Get a good vacuum but consider that you'll be dragging that sucker around. I swiched recently to one of the 4gal 5hp vacs at Home Depot (also Sears). Forget the model. It works great, is small and easy to move around. I've used 12 and 20 gallon vacs before and they work great but gets tiresome lugging it around, especially after I've dropped 10 half filled soda bottles in it lol.
Learn to anticipate what might happen. It only takes a second to do damage. Buddy of mine didn't hold a door one day. Wind caught it, slamming it into car next to him (small area couldn't move cars). Luckily he got off under $100 with a paintless dent repair. I know someone else that gently opened door resting it against car next to it. Not the greatest idea but pretty safe. That is until he got in the car, weight pushed down and DING.
Since you're in the heat, keep some rear view mirror adhesive. I've been fortunate last year or two and haven't had any fall off or get knocked off. I bump them far less now and never spray glass cleaner around the button which helps too. I've shut doors and had them fall off on me before. Nice to be able to fix it real quick.
Hope something helps you out.
