Hello my old friend! My 2000 SS Camaro returns home. Long read

Spent some time after work getting the taillights taken care of. Stripped with 1000 grit mirka abralon, 2000 grit and 3000 grit.

Polished with swirl killer mini, Meguiars microfiber cutting pad and fast correcting cream. Finishing polish with 3D one BS yellow.

Glad you got your baby back. I sure liked the rims you had on it. Those black ones to me are UGLY and degrade the whole look of the vehicle.

Got some more done.

Interior cleaned and coated. Mckees total interior cleaner, Mckees 70/30 leather shampoo.

Plastic coated with IGL trim, leather and vinyl coated in IGL leather coating.

Got some correction work completed too. Damp sanded with Mirka Abralon 3000 grit and Rupes Duetto.

Compounded with Mckees FC717 and microfiber cutting pad with Mark ll 21

Finishing polish with Mckees Fast polish new formula, Mark ll 21 and prototype pad.

LSP- Meguiars Ultimate paste wax

Got some more done...

Now *there`s* and understatement! Wow, you sure did.

Those flames were done right, huh? No issues (I gather) from doing the needed correction...and I bet that the 3K took off less overall than trying to compound it more aggressively. Nicely done!

You hit the nail on the head! Sometimes is less aggressive to damp sand with 3k and just buzz it without having to put a bunch of heat in it.

And yes this car had 3-4 solid coats of clear with high grade Spies Hecker paint.

That is a great story...I am sure we can all relate that life does get in the way of things, but I am glad that this worked out for you!

Thanks gents!

Made some more headway tonight. Got both quarters sanded and polished out.

Also removed the wing and sanded and polished the deck lid along with the wing.

Justins00SS- Was doing the wing any more challenging than doing the body proper? I`d think you`d have to be a lot more careful, especially around its edges.

Been putting in more hours between work and this project.

Got all the wheel wells, suspension and rear end cleaned up, a little re-paint and sprayed with IGL Eclipse high temperature industrial coating.

Also had my son helping me install a new BMR double adjustable panhard bar.

Justins00SS- Nice to see your helper getting involved!

How do you plan to dial in the adjustable panhard bar?

The car already had one. All it does is give you the adjustable capability to center the rear end underneath the car. Especially if ride height changes. This car already had the same bar but was a bit rough looking etc.. Removed the old one and set the new one to the same length and installed it. Got it pretty much dead on right away.

Justins00SS- Ah, OK...glad you didn`t have to go tear up a parking lot to get it squared away.

Heh heh, 40 years ago 4.11s weren`t all *that* radical, I had `em in a few cars I used as commuters (on the highway). Used to be that 4.56/4.88 were the radical gears!

Is the diff a literal locker or a LSD?

Detroit Locker. It unlocks and locks (pops) going around corners but no where near as bad as a full spool lol
