Hello I Just bought a used car and I want to make it look new... HELP!

...
I picked up some Meguiars Carnuba Wax to apply afterward. The finish feels nice, but I can still see the old swirl marks and surface scratches. Any suggestions???
Three choices:
Reduce/eliminate - Best achieved with mechanical assistance, PC, FLEX, Rotary polishers and various polishes.
Fill/hide - Glaze followed by a carnauba wax
Keep the lights off and look the other way

Since your here posting and reading, my guess that there are really only two choices for you. :)

Until you can purchase a machine to remove swirls , you have three options.

1. Ignore then for the present.
2. Use a filler type product that will slightly hide them .
3. Meguiars Scratch-X or Meguiars Ultimate Compound applied by hand.

I would try number 3., as I see that you want to learn detailing and taking care of your mustang. You will find many articles on various forums about doing this by hand (which isn't easy by any means) by Mike Phillips. He was formally at Meguiars and is currently at AutoGeek and teaching classes as well as posting on this forum and AutoGeek.net. I repeat swirls can be removed by hand but it is going to take a major effort on your part.
As you start correcting the paint on your car (swirl removal) you will need to learn how to care for the paint and not instill additional damage to the surface. Starting with and not limited to the correct process of washing and drying the car. Search the forum for the two bucket method and grit guard plus wash mitts and brushes.Next comes correctly using micro-fibers for drying and product removal.
You are at a great forum to ask questions and learn. Good luck and welcome to the forum and the world of detailing.

Hey Everyone,

Just wanted to let you know that I am planning on putting together a kit today. Any suggestions as far as product line goes? Here is a list of what I was looking to pick up. I think I am going to add the Dual Bucket system also. Is AutoGeek the best place for me to purchase these products or is there somewhere less expensive, or that will give you a discount for large orders? I also just bought a used PC 7336 Random Orbital. Let me know what you think! Thank You! You guys are awesome!

You get a discount for shopping at AG since you're a forum member here. I believe it's 10%.

I'd suggest you call this order in - possibly speak to Dwayne (the owner here, he is an AG member). He'll set you straight on what you have in mind and possibly offer some suggestions.

:bigups (x2) JP. Thanks for looking out for a fellow DC member.

Black Betty, I like the empahsis on "tools". After that I second JP's recommendation above.
