Hello from Upstate South Carolina

Just joined here and wanted to hello my name is Ricky and I'm a detailholic with a case of OCD. Just like the rest of you I'll bet. LOL!!

Just got back into serious detailing about a year ago. My Dad owned a body shop/detail shop since I was about 7. That was 40 years ago. Worked with my Dad on weekends until he retired a few years back. Here's a picture of my truck.

I've really enjoyed reading the threads on here and hope to contribute a little along the way.

Welcome aboard Ricky...where are you located in the upstate?? I'm in the Greenville area as well.

smprince...I didn't realize there was any other greenville folks on here. I'm actually a yankee, lived outside Philly my whole life, until my wife and I relocated down here about a year ago.

nice to know there's two other "locals" in autopia.

Yup, we're very close, practically neighbors .... probably passed by each other a few times on Rt. 14 :wavey

I could use your help with some paint repair if you know anything about that stuff. I got a few gouges in my tailgate last year and it looks like crap. Do you do any moonlighting?

I polish paint on the side a little. Trying not to get to busy I can't go fishing once in a while. Gouges sounds like a repaint. Do you have some pics?

Yeah, I agree it's a repaint. I put some touch up paint on the gouges to keep it from rusting but it looks pretty bad. Can you recommend somebody who can do just the tailgate and give me a decent job/price?

BTW, I moonlight on the side too but do complete interior/exterior work. If any of your "paint polishing" customers need some additional services, please send them my way.

I always use Carolina Paint and Body over here on 14. They are on the right toward woodruf road coming from the YMCA on 14.

I will for sure keep you in mind about the detailing. :2thumbs:

I live over in the Pelham Rd area...I have a buddy who lives just off Woodruff Rd in the Five Forks area, so I know exactly where you're talking about.

I'm still learning this area

This is great though...have you both been in the area for a while??

Thus far I've been relying on people I work with as resources, but most of them don't know squat about "car stuff". I plan on buying a new car in the near future and I'll need to know a good, mechanic, tint shop, stereo shop, etc...

If either of you guys can offer some recommendations it would be much appreciated.

I've already noted Carolina paint and body. good stuff :thx

I know exactly where is Carolina Paint and Body on 14. Thanks. I'm not local to the area so I appreciate you telling me you've used them so I can assume they are good.

Thanks for keeping me in mind for any detailing referrals, too. I appreciate it.

Frosty, I've been here about 2 years so I really don't have a lot of experience with local shops. I'm still learning the local 'tribal' knowledge too.

Pelham Rd. is pretty close to me too.

I have a 18 and 23 year old so in the last few years I have gotten to know Carolina Paint and Body fairly well.

I also know that Greenville Customs is a great places for steros, DVD players and LCD screens. I'll havw to talk with my future son-in-law and get the details.

It's kinda funny...I never realized how much I took for granted living in one area my entire life. Once you move you just completely lose that knowledge base.

yeh, we're very close...I can get to my buddies place in the five forks area in about 10 minutes.

If you go over to Greenville Custom you'll talk to Shawn. Tell him you've been talking to Lanny's girl friends Dad. This is his car I polished. Shawn's a great guy and will work with you any way he can.
