Hello from St. Louis!

Hello, all.. been a member for a day or two now.. so much reading.. so overwhelming. Ah well, I'll get it soon enough. I am familiar with the forum atmosphere, I was actually referred here by a member back home (acura-legend.com). After a four month nationwide search, I bought my Legend in January and am getting ready to clean her up. She's already a beautifully kept car, except for the swirls and a few dings. Just wanted to drop in and see who is out there.. and who is here in STL. Maybe someone would be willing to take a look, give me an evaluation, or give me a perspective so I know where I am at, are these minor swirls? severe swirls?, any other tips..

As introductions go, I tend ramble.. but I am looking forward to getting to know some people and understanding this world I am so new to.

Dave

Edit: Here is so far what I have gathered as "maybes" for my needs, this info gathered at "properautocare.com". Nothing purchased yet:

-1st-buy a PC

-2nd-wash, I've seen the debates over "Dawn vs. No Dawn"

-3rd-Mothers Claybar, seems to get good reviews here

-4th-Medallion Premium Paint cleaner (Meguires)

-5th- Meguires #9

-6th-Favorite wax, yet to be determined.

:angry In an unrelated note, I am in the market, as of yesterday, for a traffic lawyer in STL city... any suggestions welcome.:angry

STL city, on wb 70 in the express lanes. 77 in a 55, 20 over requires mandatory court appearance. I don't have a bad record, but I think I better get some advice at minumum. Have you got a connection?

Now the question becomes take the points or spend some bucks. A speeding ticket is a two point infraction (don't quote me) plus the fine and court costs. If you have a clean record they typically will reduce the penalty upon completion of a drivers education type course. If you decide to get a laywer you can tac on about another $150.00 to the bill (plus court cost and fine) but the ticket will get knocked down to a parking violation.

In many states, doing 20mph over is considered reckless driving. You may or may not need proper defense. The court systems are so burdened that you may be able to show up, plead insanity, craft a good story and have the whole thing reduced or tossed out and never see the judge. Someone local to STL can provide more insight.

Hi Dave!

I've only been on a couple days myself. Yes, it can be a bit overwhelming with all the info. But, I'm learning a LOT. And I'm looking forward to doing some of the processes to my 2001 Vette - that have been recommended to me.

Just wanted to say "HI"!

:)

:welcome Dave!

Can't help with any traffic law info but I would like to pass on a great online retailer that I have had great service from. Since you may be looking to purchase a PC sooner or later, give Nick at Detailer's Paradise a look. He has a great deal going on for the polisher and pads. At the moment his prices are better than CMA's and the pads are from the same manufacturer (Lake Country).

Sounds like you off to a good start with your product selection. I use the same Meg's combo on our Cherokee and they worked great. I'm currently using 1Z (einszett) on my Passat and the Metallic Polish looks fantastic on my metallic paint, very wet looking!

Watch that EXPRESS Lane, it isn't the Autobahn you know, LOL! Take it easy and hope you get your ticket worked out.

Rather a MAC lover, I've been demoted to working on a Windows machine for the time being. I worked on them everyday for 7 years and then decided to stay home and raise my daughter, now I get to use "our" Dell. I MISS MY MAC, especially since I still have to "support" my dad and my cousin! :(

**observes a moment of silence**

I need to find a solution to getting the detailing guide into a MAC compatible format... One of the drawbacks.. but well worth it.

:welcome from mid-Mo.

There's a pretty good-sized contingent of Autopians in St. Louis. In fact, last fall we got together and had a whale of a good time. I'm hoping there will be a repeat sometime this spring. So be sure to check in periodically.
