Hello from Singapore :)

Hi, Kenneth here.

I hail from the little island of Singapore (and no, it's not in China *grin*), and have just started down the dark arts of automotive detailing. I'm driving a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX, and have been using soft99 Authentic Premium Gold carnauba wax (77%, but not sure if that refers to by volume or quality) to create a soft, warm glow on the Lightning Yellow paintwork.

Will be making the switch over to the P21S Concours Carnauba wax as soon as I find out where I can get them in Singapore, as I've heard nothing but good stuff about it

Great to have found this forum, and the articles are really helpful.

G'day from OZ Kenneth. EVO IX, wow that is a machine that it must be hard to get the most out of in a small country like Singapore.

Hey I thought you might expect people to think Singapore ia part of Malaysia, rather than China? :D

I have been to your wonderful country a few times. The only problems I have with Singapore are, a) alcohol is too expensive and b) all the vehicles and buildings are too cold (airconditioning works way too good)

hey guys, thanks for the warm welcome :D

I'll be posting some pics of the car later this evening or tomorrow morning, but it's nowhere compared to what i've seen here in this forum

:welcome

I've been to Singapore many times. I always stay at the Marriott on Orchard Rd because it's in the center of all the action and I like their sidewalk cafe.

lambo, the mariott is a fantastic place to be. wonderfully central, smack at the start of the shopping district, and the sidewalk cafe (also called crossroads cafe) is a nice place to watch the world go by.

guys, as promised, i've uploaded a bunch of pics of the car to http://ghoonk.blogs.friendster.com/photos/my_photos/index.html. Will be trying to take some decent shots of the paintwork later this afternoon.

Also hope to be able to get your advice on something I've been planning to try -- I've just applied a layer of soft99's '12-month sealant' (it's a synthetic sealant that beads like wax) yesterday evening and plan to apply another layer later this afternoon. Was wondering if it is feasible to apply a layer of Meguiars #20 sealant (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0002SQZRM/104-2286634-9714303?v=glance) over the the existing layer of sealant.

What do you guys think?

I'm getting quite obsessed with detailing, adding a new layer of sealant almost every other day. I've given up on the soft99 carnauba wax -- while it beads wonderfully, as all natural waxes do, it doesn't last past 2 rain showers :(

Hi bro ghoonk, a warm welcome to Autopia from a fellow Singaporean :D :welcome . That's a nice looking car you have and I believe you forget to hide your number plate :nervous: Btw are you also a member of MCF ?

I was just there, got myself Soft99 Authentic Premium and the Fusso 12. Haven't tried them yet, though.

I wouldn't recommend #20 over anything, it'll just destroy any sealant you've already got there. It's good on its own, but you can't use it to top anything.

I quite like the wet look on yellow. Not sure how Fusso12 looks yet, but #26 was a nice one for me and was still beading like the day I applied it after 2 months before I stripped it.

just applied a nice coat of fusso over lunch, the 2nd coat in 2 days. it seems to be looking real good now.

@gen2 : yeah, i do visit the MCF forums every now and then. am quite tempted to get Klasse AIO and SG, but jesse_james suggested I go for swissol instead of mucking about the all these different products. Was hoping to get a MCFer to help me buy the Klasse promo -- would like to see what 2 coats of AIO and 12 coats of SG would look like :)

@madIX : fusso on yellow is surprisingly good. will try to take a couple of shots of it with a proper digital camera when i get home, unless you guys don't mind shots off a camera phone. do let me know how Authentic Premium performs, especially with regards to durability. Authentic Gold doesn't last long :( btw, where did you get #26 from? Autobacs doesnt carry it. The good thing about fusso is that it beads like a wax, while offering the durability of synthetics.

Hi ghoonk, my buddy still have the 250ml AIO and SG almost full and if you are interested let me know.

Hey another asian, welcome aboard...

fusso is great on almost any color, just hate the smell hehe.

btw, do you know the distributor of klasse in singapore? i know him personally so if you're interested drop me a PM and i'll give you his number.

Hey, do PM me his number :)

I'm a bit curious about Klasse. Web site says it comes in 500 ml bottles. Seems to be that it gets used up quite fast?

Right now, I'm also toying with the idea of getting AIO as a cleaner and base, then using Fussio 12-month as sealant (mostly cos it's really easy to apply and hard to buff off -- hard to buff off is goood, means that it's durable :)). Not sure how easy it is to use AIO though.

The alternative to the AIO cleaner would be Meguiar's Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner, which seems to come highly recommended in a number of detailing forums.

Sigh. So many choices, so little time.

btw, fusso does smell rather familiar, like petroleum or something. but man, it's GOOD. beads like wax, durable like polymers :)

I didn't get #26 from Singapore.

Klasse will give yellow a nice wet-look and excellent durability. Can't compare it so Fusso12 for you yet.

A 500ml bottle of SG will last you years, unless you're a layering addict. You only need a thin layer, which is how you should be applying it anyway. You should only need AIO maybe 3-4 times a year, so it'll probably expire before you run out of it, and that won't happen for years, just keep it inside. If you leave it outside in the sun, you might as well throw it away.

Yeah, I'm a layering addict. Will probably try to get my hands on a bottle AIO, clean up the paintwork with it (do i need to wait for it to cure for 24 hours before applying SG?), then apply one layer a day for the next 2 weeks (does SG need 24 hours to cure?).

I'm new to Klasse, but I've heard lots about it, and seems to be popular with the experts in here :)

How does it fare against P21S and Pinnacle?

helo, ghoonk.

you can get klasse at klassesg.com (probably you know that already) Oh, at the beginning of your thread, you mention getting P21S. Did you get you hands on that? im from brunei. and i need to get my hands on that P21S.

Klasse All-In-One(AIO) is a cleaner. you can go straight to the Klasse High Gloss Sealant Glaze(SG) after you AIO-ed your paint. after that follow it with the SG(leave the SG overnite 8-12hours for best result) then buff. :) wish to apply another coat? repeat process with SG only.

my quick detail plan.

wash car twice, clay if nessary(especially if there's hard to remove bugs in front of the car), AIO, SG(leave it overnite), buff. apply SG, buff after 1hour. then :shocked

For best result, the SG should be leave on the paint for 8-12hours before buffing.
