Hi all.

I have a prob.

This past week I went to a funeral. The grave side service was held at a family plot. Prob. I had to travel down dirt roads on a day that we had about 4-6 inchs of rain.

I took it very slow the whole way to avoid probs but..... I come around a bend and there it is a hill that is just sloshy mud. Well I made it up the hill (thinking errrr ouch oooo). Later that day I gave my baby a bath. After drying I noticed that my wheels were heavily scared!! It looks like my wheels were sand blasted!!! only around the outside of the rim but ouch! I was thinking of trying 3M swirl mark filler/remover...? It really looks like tiny swirl marks..... just lots of them and very dense.

Any Ideas???? Please help.

Sorry but no. It would take me several days. I really wish I had a digital camera at times like these. Ask me any details you'd like to know I'll try to give you a good answer.

The car is an 99 Honda Prelude base.

The wheels are stock Machined Aluminum with painted silver inside the wheels. The front face looks normal in the center cap area. From the edge of the wheel in about 4-5 inches it has the swirl mark effect just very dense. From a distance it makes the wheels look almost white around the outside.

Hope this helps.

From my experience with Hondas, the wheels are most likely clear coated. You maybe able to make them look better, but in truth, the clear coat was damaged. IN time, chemicals, dirt, brake dust will work it's way behind the clear coat, due to the damage, and make the wheels look really horrible. My advice would be to have the wheels refinished. Otherwise. your fix may only e temporary.

Hi all.

I pulled out the 3M SWR today and got to work.

It was a very slow process but I think I like the results.

At very close range and with the light just right you can still see some scratches but this is 100 times better!!

Thanks for the input all.

I did notice that I have one deep knick in the clear coat!

Think I'll just ride it out as long as I can stand it then I'll have to break down and get some new wheels.

Temp. fix looks great though.

For any of you all interested in refinishing your wheels, I highly recommend Wheel Collision. I sent them two 17 inch wheels with a few deep scrapes and the results are absolutely flawless. They fixed the scrapes and repainted the entire wheels. Awesome job. They also fix wheels that have been bent. Just thought some of you all should know about this great place. Laters

They are probably not damaged. Depending on if they are clearcoated or not, I would use mothers wheel polish. It works well. Just be sure to select the proper product as they have one for machined alluminum, and one for clearcoated wheels. The one for clearcoated wheels is a mild abrasive but works well. Follow up with your favorite sealant and you are set to go.......

"unless u are riding that civic on 18" rims and 35 series tires...... "

That's kinda rude.

Read my post..... It's a Honda PRELUDE with stock wheels.

Don't think you'd like someone calling your Integra GSR a civic.

Again I used 3M Scratch/Swirl Mark Remover and although it took a while it came out to my satisfaction. I also went over it with Mother's Cleaner wax. It came out nice. Should hold me over tell the next time I wax..... Then I'll redo and do it right.

It is late and I misread your post. Nothing wrong with a civic though.........not at all.....and a GSR is basically a civic..........

:D It's cool.

I agree there's nothing wrong with Civics..... My girlfriend has one.

Just not a Lude or a GSR.

My father had a GSR 4 door...... Nice car.... I've been trying to track one down for the longest time now. Those things are hard to find!! Oh well Thanks for the input anyway.
