I've already learned some things just by reading the posts over the last couple of weeks. I don't know what's more addictive, spending time here or detailing my car!!!
I became interested in this site when I needed info on waxes & car detailing. I just picked up a new Acura TL-S and after stripping off the dealer's wax began applying Black Fire .
So far I'm liking what I see. I plan to layer P21s over it.
All the discussions on the topic have been very helpful.
Welcome to DC! When you start to notice what a dust magnet Blackfire is you'll have a good group of guys to come to and learn how to remedy the situation. Blackfire looks great but it is a little bad on the dust attraction side. Let us know what you think of it.
Welcome Doc, glad to have another Jerseyan here. Nice area of NJ your're from. I bet you'all look forward to us "Bennies" going home at the end of the summer .
Anyway, nice new car...best of luck with it. Take your time and enjoy keeping it spiffy. And most of all...pics pics pics!
Thanks for the "Welcomes". It seems like a nice community of fellow detailing addicts. My wife is convinced that I'm beyond any rehabilitation ay this point! I tell her, at least it keeps me of the streets!!!
Natty, where do you live? Are you really a "bennie"? (that's ok, you sound like a nice guy!)
Actually, there is no difference in the traffic any more after Labor Day. This area is so overcrowded with people and cars I think I'm ready to move to North Dakota!
Anywho......a quick question: I have these annoying little "warning signs" on the sun visors of my new car about the air bags and child protection. etc. I don't know how to get them off. They aren't "decals" that you can just peel off, they seem to be a part of the plastic side of the visor that covers the vanity mirror. I tried lifting a corner with an exacto knife but all that does is scratch the visor - that's why I don't think it's a decal. It's probably "hermetically sealed"!!! Plus, on the fabric side of the visor a smaller label is really stuck. I think that sucker is on with super glue!

Not a bennie is the true sense of the word. My grandparents owned a house and bungalo on 16th ave. in Belmar for many many years. I spent a good portion of my childhood down there. The area has certainly changed.
We are renting a house in LBI next week. The wife and kids (and I) are looking forward to spending time together and forgetting about the daily routines for a short while.
As for those warning decals....I know exactly what you mean and personally I wouldn't touch them. The chance to do more damage than good is very real. I agree, they all seem to be heat glued which would make them difficult to remove easily.
I can't believe those little buggers can't be removed. They are most annoying. In fact when I have the visor down that yellow and red warning sticker sits right in my face. More of a distraction I'd say.
If anyone comes up with a brilliant idea as to how to get rid of them please let me know. Of course, I could always rip them out of their sockets!!!
