Heart and prayers for colorado shooting...

Very sad indeed, got a co-worker who's from there and he's trying to see if any family member was there at the movie theater.

I couldn't believe it when I saw it on the news this morning. It's so sad because people went to enjoy a movie and such a tragedy happened

He's already going to get the death sentence for this. Why take out other lives with him? Why couldn't he just commit suicide and be done?

Very sad for sure.

At time like this I think that the families of the victims should be part of a firing squad if they so choose. Hes clearly guilty, why waste the tax dollars housing and feeding him for 60 years.

i just wish there was one good person carrying concealed there, who could have put an end to this quickly. such a heart wrenching tragedy for loved ones.

The theater has signs saying that you cannot bring in guns. So a concealed weapons permit holder would be in violation of the theatre rules.

This is a tragedy, but it would have been nice to see this guy taken down. Colorado does not really execute people, so he will get free room and board for life.

I am so sorry to have heard about this too. Our prayers went out for those that were involved, their families, and especially the children. This is so sad...

I am with you TropicSteve - and would not have hesitated to help stop this before it continued to escalate..

Regarding the rules to not carry weapons into the Theater, unfortunately, sometimes when the rule is broken and innocent people are killed, one might hope that someone else who means well, did also and will not hesitate to help defuse this tragic, deadly outcome.

And at the end of the day, we come back to the same question - as long as we Legislate gun control, and take more rights away from good people, only the bad people who dont go by the laws anyway, will be doing this..

God, please bless the innocent souls that left us so suddenly with comfort, especially the children, and bring your balm of Gilead to those whose hearts are broken here because of the loss of their loved ones..

My heart goes out to the families, especially to the younger ones in critical condition. I heard that the moviegoers thought the "shooting" was part of the show, they weren't able to react as quickly. Scary times :(

unfortunately "theatre" rules like this don't stop anything and are really directed at normal folks, criminals could care less.
check out this video of two thugs entering the ocala, fl. internet cafe and attempting an armed robbery of the citizens there. fortunately, a 71 yr old concealed carry citizen was there with his wife, and took action to stop something that could have had a deadly outcome for others. the suspects were wounded and later arrested. no-one in the cafe was hurt.

I am not saying the guy did anything wrong but I am surprised some enterprising lawyer did not try to either get him arrested or sue him. No one had been shot until he started shooting and the way he pursued them after they started fleeing. I guess it depends on the self-defense laws in the state.

fortunately, in any armed threat situation like that, you don't want to wait till shots are fired to intervene, that could easily be too late. you don't have to warn anyone to drop their weapon when split seconds matter. it's easy for a criminal to get off six shots in a second when others hesitate. shoot til the threat stops. criminals often wildly shoot back even if they are fleeing. the elderly shooter was not charged and rightfully so, but you're right bunky, i could see some sleaze attorney wanting to sue for the poor felons. i'd rather be judged by twelve than carried by six. armed criminals usually have no respect for life and things could have easily been a lot worse.

This is exactly the truth about situations with guns. It is not, repeat, not like what you see on TV.

When you throw in people on drugs, mentally impaired, anger management, etc., it just ups the ante on who is going to do the right thing first, or possibly become one of the victims.. It is sad, but it is true.

I read someone who was there in Colorado say that she was right below the shooter and heard the bullets fly by. I feel so bad for her, and glad that she survived.
I know what this sounds like too, and believe me, it is NOT what you ever want to hear going by your face or over your head, especially when the shooter/s are so far away you cant even see them.

I just think that someone there could have at least put forth some kind of effort to stop him. I mean it was a theater packed full of people, why couldn't anyone try to tackle him to the ground? I'm sure if he was on the ground there would be others there to help.

Not necessarily blaming anyone there because I don't know the situation inside, but if someone was walking up the isle killing and shooting people by themselves, you might as well do something before your own life is taken...

Theaters really don't have any kind of security. You have high school kids working there for the most part. It would be nice to see an off duty police officer providing security especially during the evenings and late at night. Last night when I went out to eat I saw police working at the theater and today I saw the same at another theater.

I can't say I'd expect anyone to try to stop the guy. When things happen most people go into survival mode.

My thoughts and prayers also go out to the families but another sad situation also came from the shooting. Because of the news networks and all of their sensationalism the families of Columbine have to relive all of those memories. When they started bringing up all of that and the possible connections and crap I had to turn it off. I get so sick of news networks just talking about anything they can to fill time when they lack facts of the current story they are reporting on. Don Henley's song about the lack of compassion and ignorance of new networks sums it up pretty good.
