headlights 205?

Can I use M205 to restore headlights? Which pad should I use? I also have pinacle fine swirl #1 if you think 205 is too agressive. I have a porter cable XP.



Never done this before but headlights are dim due to the scratches.
 
205 should be fine, I have used 105 and done extensive wetsanding to restore some headlights. It all depends on the condition...
 
Did it 20 minutes ago, lol.



M105 and M205 on my 4" pads.



The headlights are 12 years old and full of pitting and stuff. Basically just wanted to take the haze off, so wetsanded to 1500, then used the M105 then M205. Just don't heat up the lenses too much!

Looking at my headlights closely there is crazing in the plastic. I think I am going to have to sand with 600 then 1200 then 3000 the buff with M105/M205.

The plastic is beyond revival for me with what I have. I did 600 then 1500 then 105 then 205. Like I said, just to smooth them out. If I revisit those headlights I will be adding more grits so I don't need to use the 105 if possible.
 
Whenever I've used M205 on exterior plastic, once the oils dissipated things didn't look quite as good, so I followed up with another product. Not that much of an issue in some cases, but pretty dramatic in others.



If you LSP immediately after M205ing it will sometimes turn out OK (and stay that way, at least for a good long while).
