Headlight restoration question?

My car was hit on its passenger side and I had to get a replacement headlamp. This headlight was much clearer than my drivers side headlight, it looked like it was cloudy and hazy. I wetsanded my cloudy headlight with 1000, then 1500, then 2000 grit sandpaper, used a porter cable to buff in polishing compound and then polish, but the headlight still seems cloudy. It almost appears like the cloudiness is on the inside, the outside seems as smooth as it can be.

What can be done in this situation? My friend told me theres a liquid that can wash out stuff like that on the inside of the headlight, but I've found no such product.

Thats because it's not on the inside of the light. You will need a little more than a polish and PC to take out the haze. If you put some kind of sealant or clear it will look great.

What compound did you use?

Usually, the use of a rotary polisher is required to remove wetsanding scratches.
