Head Light Restoration Kits

The WG requires you have a PC, and the other is using a drill...other than that I think they are about the same...You should do a search on headlights we've had many thread run on this subject and you can do this without buying a kit....
 
I thought I could use a cordless drill with the WG kit?

I saw on an other forum where a guy used a PC7424 with a orange pad & some Menzera SIP & had great results. Could I use a 3" pad with a cordless drill the same way?

In looked at the WG and thought it was a PC...I like WG line so that would be my choice...again do a search on this site there are quit a few threads on the subject and some where you don't need a kit.
 
That's what I was thinking but I read where a guy used a orange pad & some Menz IP & had great results. The lights looked krystal clear even better than the pic on the WG site. I'm wondering Iif I can do the same but with Poorboy's Proffesional Polish. What do you think?

Both are good choices I like PB line but both will do the job for you
 
Choices, Choices, Choices.......... Will the Menz IP have enough cutting compared to the SSR 2.1 & SSR 1? The Menz is a 32 oz bottle & the PB's are 16 oz. It's about a $10 difference.
 
OK, i'm going to go with the PB SSR's but do I need the EX-P or could I just use some Plexus? I also saw that PB has a polish with sealant. Has anyone used it?
 
I got a lot of good help from "9D4E420". I ordered some of the PB SSR products & some different pads. Thanks every one for all the info!!!

A little update... I tried cleaning up the lights on my fiances old car. About a year & a half ago & guy wet sanded them & then sprayed them with clear & now half of the clear peeled off. I tried wet sanding them with 1000, 1500 & 2000 but could not get the old clear coat off. I did a quick polish with SSR2.5 & a oragnge pad. Finished with PB Final Polish & Plexus. They look a lot better then they did before but you can see the line from where the clear was peeling. Anyone have any ideas on how to remove the rest of the clear coat off???
 
I own the WG kit, and the only useful item in the kit is the foam pad and backing plate. My own recipe for headlight restoration is wet sanding (start with whatever is needed, 600 or 1000, and then 1500 and 2000), and then polish out the scratches with Menzerna IP and a cordless drill (or rotary - a PC won't cut it). Polishing with Menzerna FP is optional, the lenses look fine w/o any finer polish.

If you don't shoot on some clear at this point you will need to regularly polish your headlight lenses.
 
I used the diamondite on my 2000 Durango this weekend and it worked great. I knew the lens were slightly yellowed then after I cleaned them it was like a face lift.
 
I bought this kit CCS Spot Buffs 4 Inch Foam Pad Kit Free Bonus! along with some of the PB products & used my cordless drill with the SSR2.5 & Final Polish. It was a night a day difference but I need to go back & hit it with some 800 or 600 to try & get the rest of the clear off. I went with the PB products instead of the WG kit cuz I wanted something that I could use on our cars as well instead of the just the lights.
 
I believe you can even do

1500, 2000, 2500 grit
then Megs PlastX and buff that in.

Which will come to a grand total of about $10.

this is what I did and it worked great but I used my cyclo with one of the backing plates removed so I would think that plastx would work with the PC to get the job done. good luck
