HD Car Care - Detroit (in progress pics)

Looking good man. I was thinking of heading up to check it out after I hit Woodward on the 15th.

Hey! I live less than 5 mins. away from there (Long Lake and Adams)! I'll probably stop by when you guys are done to be one of your first customers.

Will you be keeping any of the MH fixtures as spot lamps for paint correction, or are you relying on fluorescent lighting alone?

Progress is looking good!

Nope. The MH take up way too much electricity. I'm running about 30 6 lamp T8 fixtures with high lumen lamps. In the wash bay I'm running a combo of LED and water/vapor tight T8s. If I need to do heavy paint correction I shut off some lights and turn a spot light on it.

Heck yeah!! Come on by and check us out. Thanks for joining the forum too btw!!

Awesome man!  Any idea on your hours yet?  My buddy and I were talking the other day and I was thinking of maybe heading up early in the AM and then woodward after instead of visa versa.

<span style="font-family:'eras demi itc', sans-serif;">The plumbing contractor had to tie into the city main septic sewer for my drain. This mean them needing to dig down nearly 15 feet underground to gain access and borough through our shop wall with sewer pipe.

<span style="font-family:'eras demi itc', sans-serif;">Had to rent a scaffold to do the lighting, electrical & air lines. Without this the job would almost be impossible to complete.

Incredible shop! I wish we had places like that around here. I'm looking forward to how it continues to progress

You should leave the bathroom the way it is. Brings back memories of High School and dodger stadium. *sniff*

Put one of these in the Men's room for some interesting customer reactions!!

David Fermani- Good move on the trench drain/oil separator...that's the only way to do it IMO.

You might find yourself removing the fasteners that hold the grates on the drain...easier access for cleaning/etc..  My grates stay in place just fine without the fasteners.

A friend of mine recommended that I try out HD Cut so I figured that I would kill 2 birds with one stone.  HD Detroit just opened up so I thought I would stop in and get a bottle and check out the new shop.  Their shop is only a mile from my office, so it was an easy trip.

I stopped in and met Ted and the guys.  They told me David would be back soon and took some time to show me around and talk to me about different products.  I saw the pic of the Ferrari exhaust that they did with HD Metal so I knew I had to get a bottle.

David showed up and he and I talked some more about different products that I have used and what I liked and didn't like about other products.  what I really liked was that he didn't bad mouth any products at all, which to me shows a real sign of class.

I just recently sold my C6 and bought a used 2 door CTS coupe.  I didn't have the car with me but I told him that it was in decent shape except for a few spots.  The more we talked the more I wanted to pick up the entire line.  This is where David stopped me.  He told me that he wants me to bring in my CTS to do a test spot and see exactly what I will need.  He said there is no use buying everything if I don't need it.  Needless to say, I came back to work and told a couple of guys about it and now they want to check out his shop.  That is how you grow a business.

On my way out Ted was detailing a beat to death silver Cobalt.  When I say beat to death I think I am being nice.  Right next to it was a $150,000 Mercedes G Class.  I made a joke to Ted that he must have drawn the short straw.  He laughed and said he enjoys the tough jobs much more.  That is when I knew I had my go to shop.

Thanks guys, see you in a few weeks when my schedule clears up.
