hazing problem again

I know this topic has been discussed many times. But I just need a real solution. Many people has their own solution but which one is better.

I just detailed my black golf this afternoon with my PC. I was working on the shade in my friend apartment. Here are the steps that I used:

- Mother's Clay Bar

- Meguiars cleaner wax

- 3M SMR

- AIO

- Sealant Glaze

- Blitz Wax

Afer I done everything, the car looks fantastic under the shades but when I went outside the haze is almost every where. I tried to re-applied the SMR with PC and top it of with blitz again. But it was no good the haze was still there. Is there any way that I could eliminate the haze without using PC cause I am afraid I am going to ruin my paint?:(

Might be the oils from the SMR. Exactly the same thing happened to me. Try using an MF to remove the Klasse. That should take up the extra oils. You could also dawn after the SMR.

One question is why you would use a wax after the clay bar and before the SMR. Kinda counter productive. I also noticed that AIO however good it is wont remove all wax left behind with one application and one towel especially a fresh application of wax.

I would:

- Mother's Clay Bar

- 3M SMR

- Dawn wash

- AIO

- Sealant Glaze

- Blitz Wax

cOKi:

I am a Klasse user. There are two problems with Klasse. One sometimes it causes a haze ( and no one knows why are how to fix it without removal). Second NO TECHNICAL SUPPORT!

Oh yes and third. Wasn't Snake going to tell us how he used Klasse. Oh! I guess he has moved on to other products.

The haze i think you are seeing is very light holograming or swirling if you will by the SMR, if it was the infamous klasse haze, SMR would have taken care of it because it would have stripped the klasse.

I'm not positive but I would say you should have waited at least 24 hours before topping it with Blitz. It would seem to me the blitz and S/G got smeared together. For example the uncured S/G held on to the raw blitz. Another thing I have noticed (it doesnt sound like your problem) is Blitz tends to streak and smear when it sits in sunlight for a while, even after a flawless buff. Maybe melting? a QD takes care it.

Thanks for all replies,

Here what am I going to do, I will dawn wash my car and then I will re-applied AIO and SG by hand and top it with blitz.

I don't want to use my PC to apply it because, as I said before, I am afraid it will ruin the paint. I am going to do it tommorow, let's see if the haze will still there or not. Would this be a good steps or not?

Like I said you might want to wait 24 hours before the Blitz. You may even want to put 3-4 coats of SG on over a 1 week period, then wait a few days anf top it. the extra time will be well worth it.

The hazing is almost certainly from the 3M SMR - and it won't go away until you remove it. it isn't oils - it is micro-fine scratches from the abrasives in the SMR. You have to work 3M SMR a long time so that the abrasives break down into even finer particles that polish this haze out. Most people will never see this except on a very dark car in good light. Fillers from glazes or polishes can mask the haze, but they will dissipate and the haze will be back. You really need to polish it out properly.

See this thread and read not only about the problem but the solution.

Last saturday I did my car again here are the steps that I did:

- I dawn washed my car to strip all the klasse.

- I applied 3M SMR by hand, I don't want to use my PC cause I am afraid to ruin my paint of using PC too often on my car. After applied 3M SMR, I drove my car under the sun light. The haze was back on my car again. So I know sure that the haze is created by the 3M SMR.

- Then I continued to applied the AIO 3x. The haze wasn't as bad as before.

- I followed with SG 2x. The haze was still the same like after I applied AIO.

- Afterward, I applied 2 coats of blitz wax. And again, the haze is still there.

I am very frustrated about this haze problem. Yesterday I took some picture of it. I haven't be able to take the picture of my car under the sun light. Hopefully tommorow.

Pls help me on this haze problem.

Here are the pic:

After 3M SMR, applied by hand:

Here the pics of my car under the shades, looks gorgeous:

Haze under the sun light after I applied blitz wax:

The haze is like 80% gone but 20% of it still there.

You said

If I remember correctly, Dawn washing doesn't remove Klasse. 50% Rubbing alcohol and 50% water solution removes ehm.

I'm not sure if this would affect your following 3M SMR step though.

Just a minor thing

Well, if you've proven to yourself that the hazing is caused by the SMR then the solution seems obvious. AIO/SG really are not that good at filling scratches (pretty much nothing worthwhile is, IMO, leaving you to do the required prepwork) so putting them over a swirled surface was wasted effort :(. Sorry!

The deal with SMR is that you need to work it longer as carguy pointed out. It's got diminishing abrasives that start out gritty and get finer and finer with use, so it polishes out it's own haze if you work it long enough. In my experience (which is somewhat limited and I confess to some degree of impatience :) ) the only way to get the SMR to work right is to use the PC. I don't think that SMR by PC is any harsher than SMR by hand, it just takes a LOT less time to get the same result.

Good luck,

Robert

Why are you topping it with Blitz right away? Did you give the SG time to cure? You may be wasting elbow grease doing all that in a short time span.

I put the blitz wax not right after I put SG. I put blitz is on the next day.

I think next time I should work on the 3M SMR longer. It seems that to be the my main problem.

Thanks guys for the replies.:up

edit: if I re-apply 3M SMR again by machine will it ruin my clear coat and paint or will it be okay...????

How old is your golf and what sort of care did it get previously? There's really no way to know (well, I guess you could buy a paint-thickness gauge...) but I've been periodically disapointed with the relative lack of power that 3M SMR has with a PC. It's pretty gentle.

robert

my golf is about one and half years old. This is the first time I used PC on my car.

Before that, I usually polished and wax my car with meguaiars products. Which was I think really good product, but not as smooth when I used pc on my car.

where can i buy the paint thickness gauge? Or is there anyway to tell the paint thickness without using the gauge?
