Hazed Few Days after Collinite 845 Applied

Guys,

This is my first time using the Collinite 845 on my vehicle. The way that I applied the product was using the PC with speed 1 using the finishing pad. I wiped off the product using the microfibre towel. I inspected the car under the direct sunlight and made sure there was no wax left on the paint. Everything looked clean and shine after.

However, I drove the car to work today after a day the product was applied and cleaned. I found my the whole car was hazed look like moisture on the paint surface).

I used my finger to wipe across the haze on the paint and I could see the shine / reflection under.

Does it mean I applied too much product on the paint? Since, I was using the PC with a 6.5" pad, I put a quarter size of wax on each panel on the car. Did I apply too much wax?

Should I only wash the car and wipe off the excess haze / wax?

I have 2 coats of insulator wax on my car.

Please advise, thanks.

Thin, thin, thin, like with all waxes and sealants.

i would have to agree, i put 5-6 small pea size drops on a blue finishing pad and i got 2-3 panels worth of coverage

can't comment on the hazing......i was an 845 noob as well, and i had great results on my black truck

My car is black color.

So you guys think I put too much wax and cause the haze (even I wiped it clean with the MF towel)?

Yeah, too much product. Try washing the car like regular, then hit it with a QD and buff. Also, incandescent light is a better source for surface inspection than direct sunlight (IMO).

Will QD dilute or take-off the collinite 845?

Do I need to re-apply a thin layer of 845 after?

I just washed my car and wipe dry. I used a brand new Mf to wipe off the haze on the paint. It seems the haze is gone.

The other possibility, which does not exclude the possibility that you may have applied too much product, is that you did not allow the wax to dry sufficiently before removing. A fresh wash and QD buff should remove the haze.

I tried using the QD to remove the haze last night and it seemed the haze was gone.

Lesson learnt, I should use less Collinite 845 next time.

Thanks for the help guys!

When I apply waxes like Collinite 845 I use my Porter Cable 7424, a blue or red Lake Country pad and very little product. I put 4 small spots of wax on the pad, place it on the panel then spread it around before turning on the machine. Once the product is spread, I'll turn on the machine and start working the polish in on speed 3. I keep this up until the appearance of the wax becomes thiner and thiner. Once through, I let it dry then buff with a Microfiber towel.

I think I put at least a quarter size of 845. (thick) on each panel. I believe this is why I the haze still shown up even I removed by MF.

It is a pain to remove the dried haze on the paint.

Should I use this product same as klasse SG? That is a few drop of Sg to cover the size of the car?

I have checked the paint today and it seems most of the hazes are gone. The paint is bright and gloss again.

Is it possible to lay a coat of Menzerna Power Lock Polymer Paint Sealant on top?

Some sorta-random thoughts follow:

- There sure are a lot of people posting about 845 issues these days!

- Thinner applications of LSP are always better than thicker ones.

- Sounds like even many of the "do it thin!" folks use a lot more than I do!

- LSP-related hazes are often just excess product that needs wiped/buffed off.

- I'm in complete agreement with bill57 regarding the incadescent light :xyxthumbs

- I wouldn't try to layer a sealant over 845 and I'm not sure why anyone would want to anyhow  If you want to mess around layering stuff with 845, I'd do my "Collinite sandwich"- 845, then 475S, then 845 again.

I would kill my neighbour suggesting layering the sealant on top!:angry

Anyway, I should be careful when applying the 845 in the future.

Is 915 not worth getting? or i mean would you recommend some other product? I'm leaning towards collinite as my sealant/lsp choice because of that post a ways back proving it outlasted come other lsps....but the comparison was limited to like 2 other products....

I dunno if it really matters which one you get.

Some people find the 915 looks better.

I go with 845 for user-friendliness and 476S for durability, and I'm satisfied with how they look *on those vehicles*.

There are products that, IME, last longer and/or protect better, but those (specifically FK1000P and KSG) are best used over basically perfect finishes, and they're very "sealanty-looking" as opposed to how Collinite (waxes) look.

Back to the topic again. I am thinking whether I used a thick plush MF towel to remove the wax after hazed.

Usually, I used the Meguiar's Professional Ultimate MF towels to remove the haze.
