Haze on trooper car...

I just went to the Colllinite web site and there are many different products from which to choose. Which would be the best for my patrol car? Of course, keeping in mind the colors are blue and gray. I also noticed there were no prices on the website..? What kind of money am I looking at? I was going to rry the Klasse AIO and SG, but someone else mentioned that it would just enhance the marring...

As mentioned, the 845 Insulator Wax, a semi-liquid/gel, is somewhat easier to apply. It looks the best too, but I still prefer the 476S Super Double-Coat paste wax. Just a personal preference, but the durability is definitely better. Not tricky to use, just apply it very thin (as with all LSPs- Last Step Products) and you'll be fine. As mentioned, the prices are in the $15 range (or were the last time I checked) and given the durability that's a bargain.

I consider sealants like Zaino and the Klasse twins best for vehicles on which you can achieve *and maintain* a flawless finish. IMO this is unrealistic for an in-service car. Might be good on your personal vehicles though. FWIW, I only use this approach on two of our cars.

No worries about any questions being dumb ;) Yeah, it would be easy to spend a lot of money (and time) on this stuff, but it's not really necessary.

One thing that he could do is just buy Color X as a cleaner wax instead of the AIO. A lot of people use ColorX on this board it's a good product and you can buy it anywhere. And then use the NXT as a sealant. Then if he wants to go with a Carurba based wax if he wants.Actually a lot of people use the Gold class wax last it's a Carurba/poly mix with a polish with it. A lot of people on the Megs board go the colorX/Nxt route. Some of follow NXT with Gold class it really makes the surface slick. If I was the trooper I would get in contact with this other guy in AL. And have him polish the car first this way the car will look better and the wax will last longer. Also don't forget that there is a place on here where he can buy products here from other members on the board. That way he can try out stuff and see what he likes for less $.Or just send it to him and really get him hooked. One last thing if he decides to clean off the car and try again he should remember to give enought time between wax coats it's called a 24 hr rule but 2-4 should be enought.

It really just sounds like you laid the NXT on too thick. When this happens, it leaves a terrible haze/smeary mess that stays until you wash the car again. I went through this on my Redfire (candy red) Cobra a couple of times. It is a similar color to the Metallic Grey you're working with.

Keep the NXT thin and the haze shouldn't occur.

You can do one of two things to get rid of the haze. 1) Wash the car now that you've waxed it or 2) Use a quick detailer spray and wipe it down well.

Its great to see a Trooper well dedicated to the image that is kept. Most of our guys have a broken/busted rear bumper cover, a missing hubcap and a layer of dirt the age of the car.

Poorboy's EXP would do well on the gray and dark blue. Meguiar's #26 would also do really well and is VERY easy to apply, and lasts longer than the NXT, though it doesn't have quite the same ultimate shine.

BTW, would you have happened to have been on duty/heard what happened in the Vincent/border line St. Clair county area yesterday around 530-6pm? PM me if you do, I know 2 Troopers responded, coming from the Pell City direction. Had about 4 St. Clair responses and 3-4 Pell City officers as well, All apparently headed to Vincent.

I drive between Shelby co. to Lincoln a LOT. Sometimes I have to hit I20 @ Riverside, I know you guys work that area a lot. I'm glad you do because I really wonder if some drivers pulled his/her license out of a Cracker Jack box.

Saturn2 brought up a good approach with that Color-X, somehow I always forget about that stuff. Collinite over that would be another good way to go.

That's a good point. Most people use *MUCH* too much product. It takes an incredibly small amount to do the job.

Heh heh, last time I was in a cruiser (I was the victim of a hit/run and was hanging out with the trooper while they brought the other driver back to the scene) the otherwise spotless P71 just needed its windows done properly to be really impressive, so I got some stuff out of my vehicle and cleaned 'em up while we were waiting. Most of the OSP troopers are pretty good about keeping their units nice, and yeah, it makes for a good public image.

I bought Meguairs NXT tech wax today from autozone. I washed my trooper car with meguairs gold class carwash, dried it, then proceeded to use the meguairs wax. I had previously clayed the car and used megauirs gold class wax.

Anyhow, when I went to remove the nxt wax, it left a TERRIBLE haze on the blue hood and trunk of the trooper car. I don't own a buffer, so I was doing this by hand. I was also working inside my garage. The car surface was cool to the touch as the car had not been running for several days as I have been on off days.

So the question(s) I have are, how do I get the haze off my trooper car? What should I have used for the car? ( it is blue and gray in color).

Does anyone think it would be just a waste of time to call meguairs and complain? or is it my fault for what's happened?

Promise you won't ticket me for speeding or arrest me for D&D and I'll tell ya... :D
