Haven't been here for a while, need some advice!

I have a black Prelude back home that needs a little buffing when I get out of school for the summer. There are light swirls on the paint that I never could get out last year (PC with DACP&wool pad, then PC with Meguiars Swirl Remover 2.0, then PC with some other polishes). So she needs a little spring cleaning. Last month I got some NXT wax and put on a coat but I'm not satisfied. I want to be rid of these swirls but I have all but given up on polishing them out without a rotary so I'm looking for the best way to hide them.

With that being said, what do you guys recommend? I've been through the Zaino phase but that didn't give me the depth I wanted and the Z5 wasn't the best at hiding swirls. I have also been using S100 and #26 but I started reading up on some things and I see there are alot of new products that are getting good reviews now. I have yet to find a product that has great filling properties.

I'm thinking about giving the 1Z product line a try and maybe some Vanilla Moose (I think I got the name right!). I really like S100 but I would like something to fill in the light swirls before the S100. Also, would you guys recommend Menzerna FP? I haven't used any of their products but their final polish has peaked my interest. I'll stop now before I drone on too much, its getting kinda late! I'll throw in a couple pictures of my baby.

I am pretty much set on using S100 for this summer and I'm going to buy some S100 Shine Enhancing Paint Cleanser and Harley Davidson Glaze to compliment the S100. A friend told me the HD Glaze did a decent job of filling her swirls so I thought I would give it a try.

I did quite a bit of searching but all that people seem to recommend is #9 or 3M Finesse-It II for filling swirls. I have used both with my porter cable and while I think they are great mild polishes, they just don't seem to fill swirls for me. Should I be applying #9 lightly by hand to get better filling results?

I appreciate any help you guys can give me!

If DACP and a wool pad didn't remove your swirls, then IMO, your swirls are deep enough that warrant a rotary polishing. Furthermore, if your swirls are that deep, you aren't going to find a glaze which is going to cover them up to your satisfaction. My advice? Try the PC with some DACP and a yellow pad and evaluate from there. Hondas don't have that hard of a CC, so IMO, you could remove them, then go with the products of your choice.

Arrgh! Where is this info coming from anyway?? If there is a specific thread could you please tell me?

I don't know how this thing got started, but (on and off) I have noticed a lot of people lately regarding products like #9 (a swirl remover) as things that merely fill in swirls. The reality is that they do contain fillers, but only a little, and they are primarily mildly abrasive polishes with only minor filling ability.

And FI-II used to be regarded as fillerless if my memory serves right....

Anyway, to help with your question I think you're probably going to get the best filling from a purely non-abrasive glaze like #7, #81, IHG, Mothers Glaze, etc. However, like Greg, I think that if these are swirls that have eluded polishing out by other means, then attempting to fill them is only going to net very limited results. Filling really only works best on finer, lighter swirls.
