Have You Tried The CBT?

How many of you have tried the Concours Buffing Towel?

I've been using the three that I bought for a couple of weeks now. I have come to the conclusion that these are the best towels that I have ever used.

They are the perfect size, they have the same "nap" on both sides (unlike many MF towels), and they seem to remove polish better and easier than my prior favorite towel, the Ultra Fine MF from PakShak.

The only slight drawback is some occassional lint, but this was great reduced after the initial washing.

I guess I am just a bit surprised I don't hear more about these great towels!

These towels deserve a big: :bow

They are very nice towels. Not quite tough enough for polishes, though. IMO, of course :)

What do you mean by "not tough enough for polishes"?

Like I said in my original post, they definitely seem to remove polish better than my MF towels, requiring less pressure. They seem to have more "bite", despite the fact they are very soft.

My faves along with DFTowels. They are absolutely incredible with QD's, and are great for drying with QEW. :)

I don't associate "bite" with them, though. :)

Thanks Rob, there's yet another towel I'm gonna have to order ;)

I was perfectly happy with my current MF collection until you and Aurora40 said how good the CBT is on polish, QD, QEW, etc.....

Guess my ever growing list of "Stuff to buy" will make a good Christmas list.

(Thanks for the tip guy's, I feel like I'm on a never ending quest for the perfect towels!)

I like 'em too. For post-wash QDing IMO they can't be beat.

But I must confess that I switch back and forth between the CBT, YoSteve MFs, and suede-style MFs for LSP removal. Some just seem better suited to certain products. For polish removal I probably use the YoSteve MFs 95% of the time.

I enjoy them for QD'ing a slick surface. Once my wax starts to degrade, I move to plush Sonus MF or the Magic Towel.

I also use the CBT for removal of many LSP's except Collinite and #16. I especially like using it for removal of "buttery" waxes like Souveran, Nattys and P21s.

Just be careful or badges, emblems and sharp corners because the loops will get caught and pull out.

Yes, I agree with this and should have listed it as a drawback. Still, the positives far outweigh the negatives in my opinion.:xyxthumbs

I have a couple and use them only for wax removal/buffing. They're the best I've found for doing that.

I use my yosteve mf's for polish removal and QD.

I have the CBT also and I find it tp be probably my best towle. I love the feel and the "pick up" it has. It does work best on a newly polished/waxed surface.

Glad to help! :p

Seriously though, if you are on the neverending quest for the "perfect towel", the CBT is unique enough from the other non-natural MF towels to warrant giving it a try. I seriously doubt that you will be disappointed!

:up

Where do you buy the YoSteve MFs? I've read on another site the DFTowels can scratch, is this correct? Are they more likely to scratch than other quality MFs?

When I do a CD scratch test the DF towels scratch much worse than my other MF. My DF towels have not marred the paint on my car though.

I owned a couple of CBT that I was not happy with. They were not soft and the stiching around the border was comming apart. I called up David O and he replaced my towels no problem. He asked me to send the defective towels to the manufacturer. He provided me with the address. The manufacturer was Cerruti Design Studio. This is also the place that makes the DF Towel.

From what I understand the CBT has gone through a few design changes over the years. The CBT that I received were different than my DF towels. My CBT was darker, smaller, and had a different border from my DF Towels.

I have three CBTs that I have not used yet because they are not soft the way I read here. The towel is "plush", but the surface itself does not feel soft like the Sonus towels I have, and now I'm afraid to use them. The are also not as soft as the CBT applicators I have and are a different color. The CBT applicators are a light grey, and the CBT towels are pure white.

I've tried the CD test and it did not scratch, but none of my towels scratched the CD, including my cotton towels. Perhaps I'm not using enough force.

These CBTs were purchased about a month ago.

I had similar results with my scratch test, and the CBT scratched the CD worse than the other towels, but it doesnt scratch the paint on my car.

I have the CBT i ordered from autopia which is dark gray and the CBT towel I recently ordered which is white....dont know what other changes they have made other than color. For some reason I dont these towels for removing much at all....I feel they dont have enough bite when compared to my sonus buffing towel. I reserve the CBT towels for the FINAL wipe down after all residue has been initially removed. (Plus they are quite expensive.) I do like and suggest the Sonus Buffing towel (I have the ones where one side is for polishing and the other side is more plush for final wipe> I love these towels!)
