Next, the Meg's clay kit came with cleaner wax.

Since 90% of everything I use is off the shelf at Pep Boys, will A coat of the cleaner wax, then a coat of Meguiar's Gold Class should give a decent reflection after clay, right?

I feel like an idiot, everyone on here uses the good order-on-line products. But will this process be satisfying since I've got to make due with what I can?
 
IMHO (which may be wrong), many OTC products are good-better-best, and MEg's is in the "better" category. The cleaner wax, than a hard past is the right step.
Don't feel bad about the products. Layer on Gold class at your leisure and you'll get nice shine and good reflection, as well as pretty good protection.

I'm a big fan of this motto: "use what you got!"
 
Give it a shot, you have nothing to lose. Remember its mostly process rather than products.

I agree with the last two post. Meguiar's products are pretty good and they are cost effective. a layer of cleaner wax and then probably two layers of the gold class paste wax would provide good protection for your vehicle.

just dont go the other way around first. Gold class paste wax and then cleaner wax is a no-no.
 
I thought gold class wax was also a cleaner wax, so layering would make no sense. Maybe im wrong about it being a cleaner wax.
 
Gold Class wax does have cleaning abilities (according to many folks here at DC), so layering it would probably not be an option.

Just because a product is not bought online doesn't mean that it won't work well or give a nice looking finish. Probably half or more of the stuff I use is bought at local stores, and I hardly ever have a problem with it. Keep in mind that the proper process will go a long way for what you lack in products.
