Accumulator: Good to hear from you! Like many here, I value your opinions as well. They're always spot on. I tossed that idea around. The irony here is that I've been using 1000p on my previously owned black 300C. The week before I said good bye to her, I topped the 1000P with CG 50/50. I'm a HUGE fan of FK products. 1000P is the real deal. Super easy to work with. Withstands the Texas Sun in the summers & the durability is outstanding.
It really came down to this for the new Honda. It had been quite awhile since I'd used my Zaino or JW lineup. I'm a carnauba kinda guy, due to all the dark colored vehicles I've owned over the years. My sealant collection was getting dusty. This was a great opportunity to pull the sealants from my arsenal. (other than 1000P) Since the new color is Mettalic Silver, I was looking for "Gloss". Yes, the "candy coated" look that some many *complain* about. I wanted to add a thickness to the clear coat, in terms of looks.
gigondaz: As for paint prep, there was no marring or scratches that required polishing. Spot claying and a good paintwork cleansing with KAIO was really all that was required. I've been a detailing enthusiast for some 20+ years and have plenty of experience with Zaino. I chose Z5 Pro because I have 3/4 of a bottle of it, as compared to 1/4 of a bottle of Z2 Pro. Plus, for me atleast, Z5 Pro doesn't really provide any "filling" properties. I had no intention of using it to "fill". I chose it for a slightly warmer glossy look on the Metallic Silver vs the brighter look of Z2 Pro. Simple as that really. As for 3 layers of Z5 Pro w/ZFX? Sure it takes time & patience. I enjoy the process. It's relaxing........Stress relieving & a pure joy for me. I began the 3 Layers of Z5 Pro this morning around 4:30am. By the time all 3 layers were applied-removed-Z6 in between each layer, and the Z8 was applied & removed, the paint looked amazing. Now in an earlier post I mentioned the possibility of adding either 3 more layers of Z5 Pro or Z2 Pro within the next week or 2. Honestly, I wasn't 100% sure if the Z5 Pro would provide the look I was looking for. I've never used it on a light colored paint before. Luckily, the experiment worked out very well. 3 Layers of Z2 Pro will be applied next weekend, as it's optically clear & will absolutely up the gloss factor. In closing, I'm winterizing my brand new Honda Crosstour with 30 miles on it. That's really what's behind all of this. Start off with a long lasting, easy to use/maintain sealant. Z6 or Z8 between washes for the next 6 months. Easy care maintenance really.
I find that the less you have to touch your paintwork, the less marring you have to deal with. This way, I usually only have to take out the PC and polish once or twice a year.
