Has this happened to you?

I started on the hood of a Volkswagen passat with my rotary. After two hours polishing in the sun I couldn't figure out why I couldn't remove some light holograms. I even went at it with my DA. Finally I realized that the sun glasses I was wearing had some kind of marring on them that was creating a hologram effect on every surface I looked at reflecting the sun! I figured it out when I noticed that the windshield appeared to have holograms, and then my own vehicle as well. Only to me could such a thing happen.

Various cursing, a change of sun glasses, another problem solved.

I think ScottWax details with sunglasses (per his avatar). Me, personally, I can stand wearing sunglasses when accurate vision is critical. I never got into wearing them.

polarized lenes will definitely do some strange things.

Yeah, I see all the plastic bubbles in car windows when I'm wearing my Persols.

I have awful eyesight and when I detail or go to a car show, any situation where I literally have to pretty much put my nose up to a paint finish, I wear my contacts, not my regular glasses because for me the frames of the glasses just get in the way of very close work.

Of course I'm going to pop in a pair of contacts one day that have marring on them and that's going to look very interesting! :twitch: :chuckle:

In my twenty year + history of wearing them there was one time when two lenses did come in one package stuck to each other and I unknowingly popped both into one eye and a normal one in the other--things looked wacky :chuckle:

As soon as my near sight goes to crap, off to Lasik I go.

These glasses were not polarized to my knowledge. They were just something bought at a clothing store by the cash. I do have a pair of polarized fishing glasses though, maybe I'll give them a try and see what I can see. Maybe someone will invent some glasses that enhance your view of the paint finish for correction work. That'd be a go to item on my list!

SpoolinNoMore: I did not polish my glasses after this lol :). Hmmm which polish to try on those...

Yep, I wouldn't wear polarized sunglasses to detail ,especially since I now hear they may reveal more paint defects! Got to draw the line somewhere :chuckle:
