Has ne1 gotten results with High Temp Products using a PC?

I purchased a PC 7336 when Lowes had that sale alwhile back to see what this thing could do. I already had a Dewalt 849 rotary and am comfortable using it but still it seemed like I could use it for when the situation did not call for breaking out the big guns.



I use HT Heavy Cut w/LC Orange or schlegel light cut pad, and for the life of me, after reading all the how-to's and various threads here can't get any marring out except very light swirls.



I've seen the results that others have gotten so I know the thing works. I usually end up grabbing my rotary and knocking out the task in far less time I spent struggling with the PC.



I don't want to go out and get another line of polishes just for the PC. I'm happy that they make the carpet brush for this thing other wise it would be collecting dust. Other than for applying LSP's

With what type of pad would you reccomend?



I've got the HT Light Cut and Power Prep Medium Cut and have tried both using a LC Orange or 3M Polishing pads and get nothing.
 
I have a Cyclo, so I dont know if that makes a difference. Depending on the paint's condition, I might use the yellow cutting pad for more damaged paint, or the green for light polishing. I have removed some pretty serious defects with the yellow cutting pad and the medium cut. Again, I am using the Cyclo, which may be more powerful than the PC. The Rotary definitely takes out more defects with HT's products.
 
Thanks for the replies, I've never used a Cyclo but looking at the price of one, I think it's a step up from the PC.



I've been experimenting all week with some spot pads (Orange and Green)



I can remove some defect's (minor swirls and light scratches) but it takes several attempts and a long time.



I dunno, I really like HT's products and have enough to last me awhile.



I'll keep experimenting but think I'll stick to my rotary for serious work.
 
I used Heavy Cut for the first time the other day on a Meg's Polishing Pad(my lite cutting pad's had to be cleaned) with the PC came out great. Followed it with Optimum polish on a Meg's Polishing pad and it really left a nice finish.

Would that be the beige colored pad or the yellow one that has a backing plate already attached?
 
I am a faithful HT user and have used Light Cut, Medium Cut and Heavy Cut with a rotary as well as a PC. I used MC the other night on a badly oxidized red van through a PC and a rotary on a LC Orange Cutting pad just to see the differences between each machine. I was surprised to see the results were not that far off of each other...Now of course the PC was slower but after seeing side by side results on the roof I was doing at the time, and being that I was having to twist and turn in weird ways to get to all of the roof, I went with the PC to finish it due to less weight of the PC. I truly was pleased with MC and a PC 7336! Now with a rotary, I used Light Cut through a rotary on a Camry and could not believe how quickly the car came back to life! A couple of passes and the LC broke down, making it easy to tell when it was time to wipe off, leaving a great shine! Have not used LC through a PC yet...Hope this helps a little.

Much thanx dude, that's the type of input I was looking for. I don't mind using my rotary but sometimes it seems like overkill for the task at hand. Beside it can get heavy when working side panels and I've been there with doing the roof :)





Besides I hate buying something and not using it.



I will keep trying to improve my PC technique. I think I'm using it more like a rotary.
 
I actually don't think the PC has enough speed to break down the HT Heavy Cut. I believe what you are seeing is swrils caused by the compound itself. Give Medium Cut a try with the PC at speed 5 and really work it in. With a PC the key is to spread the product over your work area fast at a slow speed like 3, then work in the product at 5 moving slowly for each pass.

Hmmm, your the second person I've heard say that about HT HCL and a PC.



I'll try the Medium Cut w/LC Orange pad tommorrow or Saturday using your reccommendation for application.



Both you and rw3829 seem to have success with the less aggressive cuts so I know it's do-able.
 
I'm with you here, I've had better luck with the rotary also. The PC is good for any light cleanup work after the Rotary work has been done. I have had the same success with the PC and not with the same materials. I've used Meguiars DACP, no difference. Now i've used the DACP with the rotary and yes, it did take out the spiderwebs.
