Has anyone used crystal rock wax from SwissVax?

I know we'll never find out the answer, but I'd be willing to bet it doesn't cost them any more than a few bucks to make any of their waxes. More power to them if they can get people to shell out thousands of dollars for a jar of car wax.

Back when I was just getting into this detailing thing, I swore I saw I difference between every LSP, each had it's own special look, etc. Now I can barely see a difference in looks. Instead I focus on ease of use and durability.

Reminds me of an episode of Penn and Teller: Bullsh*t! where they served various types of "exotic" bottled water to patrons at a high end restaraunt, told them the price of each bottle of water and the fancy purification process, etc. and the patrons unanimously stated that they could taste a difference between the cheaper brand and the more expensive/exotic brand. All the bottles had been filled with the same garden hose behind the restaraunt. Perception is everything.

thats funny!:D

I know what you mean because Ive put 2 different products on a hood before . One half gets one LSP and the other half the other .

I compared expensive zaino to meguiars and couldnt tell any difference at all.( at least looks wise, they do feel different)

I could never justify spending that on a wax. The most I have spent on wax is $75. I could justify going up to $150 if I really have the itch to buy a new one and have had a very productive and profitable stint.

I will say on the other hand that If you taylor to high end cliets then it could be a great selling point. Telling someone that you are putting a wax that costs as much or more as a car payment on their baby could help seal the deal for you getting the job.

If someone wants to have a super expensive wax then that is just fine by me, infact I want to be their new best friend so I can try it.

At least with Vintage you can get free refills for life, and can pass that advantage onto a next of kin.

I've used it and on Ferrari red, Metalic lambos, vintage ferraris (SS paint), it looks out of this world, the durability is great if you stay away from rough soaps. My clients love it, so profit is profit.

I would love to try CR too.

Cheers,
GREG

I'm sure they would love any crap wax on it if you polished the paint correctly ;)

Crystal Rock

Hey all, new to the forum...I have the privilege to have been using crystal rock for about 2 months now. I'm currently going to apply it to a black SL 63 that already has 3 layers of it. It truly is AMAZING to work with. It melts almost effortlessly in your hand and goes on like butter with either the palm of your hand or an applicator. The opaque look it creates when applied is similar to Lusso Oro, it smells like passion fruit, and you don't need very much at all with a well prepped surface. When I first got it I was dying to see if it was really going to add that extra pop that $1300 wax should deliver. IT DID!! So the first application with the AMG's Ceramic clear, I used super intensive/Uber orange cut, Super Finish/Uber blue, and Jeweled with 85rd/Blk Uber. Alcohol wipe...Looked really sharp, really didn't think it could look better..wrong. Applied first coat of Crystal Rock and let cure for about 30-45 mins (as it took some time to go around the entire car very slowly) It came off effortlessly, and the depth was incredible. It says not to interfere with the paintwork for at least 3 hours, and if possible to place in direct sunlight to enhance depth. (don't ask me how that works lol) It's Taking a harsh NY winter, and even with all the snow and salt, it beads like crazy OVER THE DIRT! Even with clay and an alcohol wipedown...its still very intact. It's getting its 4th and 5th coat this weekend. This sounds excessive, but it is worth every dollar. I can get roughly 60-100 applications with one 200ml jar. I have a water beading video too that I'll post along with pictures of the finished prouduct. I may get snow shots Director....Till then, and by the way this web site is amazing. My hats off to all you guys who make this what it is!

I doubt that "high end" clients that would pay for that type of wax would even know what a car payment is.

My 2 cents, its all about prep, 85% prep and then a premium wax or sealant, I would never pay over $200.00 for ANY WAX
But there is a market for SwissVax, I suppose those that can afford this feel like they are steps ahead the common person, meaning the more they pay for things the better they feel.......

very true . i just like carnuaba waxes is all. and like woman like to spoil them selves with a coach pocketbook. i spolied myself with a nice wax. and yes prep is the key. ill allways say that .

Did you read this before you hit the send button? I do polish correctly, and my clients have tired other waxes/sealants and if they see a difference they want it. I don't need to "sell" it.

Cheers,

The sad thing is that CR is probably a really nice wax and at $100 to $200 a tub they would probably sell a ton of it. Actually at $50 a tub they would sell even more and I am sure they would still make a nice profit at that price. Everybody would get to use and enjoy a nice wax, they would probably make more money and all would be good. There is nothing in any of these waxes that cost that much money that they need to charge over $50 for them. I am sure the process they use is also no different than cheaper waxes and is no more time consuming than any other wax at any price point. It is purely marketing.

swissvax just raised these prices again. its crazy. i love there line. but just cant afford it . my 2 tubs of wax should last me a while thank god. i can say this there line smells awesome. waxes soaps dressings ect. yummy.. but yummy cost ya lol

Hey all, new to the forum.. Even with clay and an alcohol wipedown...its still very intact.

Welcome to truth!!!!!

One thing to consider is that alcohol will remove carnauba wax almost immediately, so if you find that alcohol isn't removing the product then something (not carnauba!) is still there.

I have a good friend in the UK who spun a lot of high end waxes in a lab and found that the majority of your super expensive waxes have 'loads' (in his words) of silicon and/or polymers.

Carnauba in it's natural forum isn't very resistant to detergents, alcohols, etc.. It also very difficult to apply. This is why it is blended with other waxes, sealants, and often silicon. This is normal and this is what makes wax work, and you cannot get around it.

So if your wax lasts a long time or is extremely resistant to washing, scrubbing, then there is some other active ingredient. And that's the rub. I have used pretty much all of the expensive waxes and thought they were all very nice, and wish they were sold as such instead of the current hyperbole of unlikely percentages of carnuaba (you wouldn't want that much for numerous reasons), fairy dust, etc...

As my buddy Mike P says, find something you like and use it often, so if you are happy with the performance and value, stick with it!

Thanks again for joining the forum and sharing your findings. There is nothing wrong with putting a little love into your baby!

Thanks Todd, yea I'm wondering how much carnuaba is REALLY in there, it says 76%..not sure if thats true. I'm also a big fan of HD wax and Lusso Oro, and want to pick up some of the BFWD that you all have been raving about. I also want to mess with the fire over ice combo that Blackfire also makes. Lots of things i want to try in the New Year, and i can't wait..I'll be placing my order soon Todd..Thanks again

I have made my own wax before, still making and trying them out but havent hit the motherload yet, but that percentage is more than likely 76% carnauba OF the wax content in the product. That is probably not referring to the product as a whole.

Also Id be happy to send you a sample of BFWD and BFMS for a sample of Crystal Rock :p
