Hard water preventing suds?

There is no cure!
Just to lay it down, I want to specify that I use a measuring cup to measure the carwash product.

On most carwash soaps I always sue one ounce per gallon. Recently upon using and purchasing Poorboy's SS&S Ive been using 2 1/2 ounces to fill up my 5 gallon bucket.

It has been to my surprise that even a high sudsing product like PB's wash does not last very long for me.

Could this be because of my water. I never suspected I had hard water but this is making me think other-wise.

the hard water is defintely a problem, it will reduce the sudsing...
also are you putting the soap in first or are you adding it in after the water?

Without having your water analyzed I would say that's the problem. I have to put about a gallon and a half to two gallons of water before I add the super otherwise there is so much suds coming out of the bucket and no water so to speak if I add the soap first. Also the suds last long after I'm finished with the car. Btw the only time I use two ounces of Super is when my car is EXTREMELY dirty and I do not have a water softener.

i have the same problem in calgary, it is becase of the hard water. Im sure you find your soap dosent lather eaither. Maybe the fix would be fill the bucket in the house if you have a water softner. I know when ive used SSS i fill it in a shower to get the suds and lug it out otherwise i get nothing. Eitheir that or try a paint mixing tool for a drill. Adjate like nothing else, just put the paint thing in and turn on the drill. I have never tried this but it may work. Its worth a try.
Good luck with the SSS

So if it doesn't suds as much then is the water a higher concentration of soap, increasing the odds of leaving soap film behind on the car surface?

A few months ago my water softner went on the blink and I have not replaced it yet. I just started to figure this out recently, but I started to notice around the same time that the finishes after washing seemed not-as-slick. I have been attributing it to what I said above.

Just ordered the water softening kit from autogeek along with the gilmour gun. I'll let you guys know how it goes as soon as I get it.

Autogeek has this inline water softner that I am considering purchasing
myself. I do not have a sudsing problem. I do not like the hard water
spots that dry on the car. Yes, I am drying with a WW towel. I am thinking
that what dries in the those water spots is also between my wash mitt and
paint when washing like sand powder, which doe's not sound healthy to
shiney paint.
