i clayed a section of my car today and i notice there are certain particles that dont come out easily using the clay. theyre hard and stuck on and no matter how hard i rub it dosent come out. any sugguestions?

also after i clayed i washed the section and notice there were alot of micro-marring/scratching in the area. is that suppsoed to be normal? i got the scratches out easily using some polish though.

I don't know if your paint is all original or not, but could it be dirt under the clearcoat from a crappy paintjob? I have a couple of these. :(

No, a lot of scratching/marring is NOT normal. You shouldn't be leaning on the bar, really. Some pressure is okay, but not too much. Light marring usually occurs and is "normal" if you goof and let the lube run out or something.

yeah, maybe i should start using more lube. i'm gonna try to use a car shampoo/water mixture next time.

also, would a circular motion be ok to do? because i figure that it woulndt be a good idea.

You should clay in a straight line. The car shampoo/water mix is my preferred lube for claying.

Shyne-*IF* you're causing marring, it's gonna be more noticeable if you go in circles instead of front-back (but then you're just polishing it out anyhow..). But as 4DSC said, you really shouldn't be getting marring from it. FWIW, I sometimes go in circles without problems.

Maybe try soaking the stubborn contaminants with a solvent like 3M's Adhesive Remover, Wurth CleansAll, or a bug/tar remover.
