Happy Trails!!!

Not sure why I thought this thread would be funny but I just wanted to show you a car that caught my eye today. Looking closely it seems to have been repainted as the color of the fender doesn't match the rocker panel/door/pillar. In fairness to the body shop, the swirls could have been installed by another party. :rofl

Feel free to post pics of random hack jobs. No names please.....

When I read the thread title I thought you were leaving the forum and saying good-bye. Glad you just posting hack work! :bigups

Re: Happy (Buffer) Trails!!!

There I fixed the title. I can't quit you guys. :rockon

I just see these cars now and then and cringe. I may start snapping photos and bump my own post.

I used to count the amount of cars that had buffer trails when I was stuck in traffic in South Florida. I believe it can actually lead to depression.

I took this pic at SEMA outside in the wheels and stereo area. It even had a Mothers Shine Award. :wall

We thought it was ghost flames at first.

This is what I get to fix tomorrow. There are 2 of them just alike. 2012 Dodge Rams with less than 30 miles on the odometer. They purchased new utility beds from the dealership I work for, and this is the paint job they received. This is after 2 WEEKS of wetsanding by the "body shop". The orange peel was so thick that water would actually stand on the compartment doors of the beds. This is a prime example of why I hate the body men at work.

After all these years I still wonder. This BMW 335 had the front bumper resprayed only. They decided to make the rest of the car "match". One of the many write ups I need to put together.

I see patterns like this and wonder "Were they hanging on to the cord only and letting the buffer run amuck by itself on the surface?".

Mr.Clean did you ever complete those horror stories? Pics?

I got them both finished, but didn't get any after pics. They were both caked in red overspray from bumper to bumper, and even after the beds were compounded correctly and all the swirls removed, they still looked awful because the paint was so rough it looked like they had been painted with a roller. I had 6 hours each in overspray removal alone. Absolutely ridiculous...

Todd,

I was thinking the same thing.

Back in the day I remember the Happy Trails song from the Roy Rogers show, he and Dale Evens used to sing it at the end of the show.....

got this about a month ago from some local shop that used me to sell the job lol. the guy said andrew will charge you too much but i can do the job for $250. really?
its funny when other shops think of me while i just do my thing & ignore what everyone else is doing lol.
shop owners like that are scumbags, taking peoples $ for messed up jobs like this & then they continue to discuss me?
to finish the story, the car was finished at night so the guy didnt really see what the car looked like till the next morning, then i got a call, then that monday the GTR was dropped off at my place to be taken care of & done up the right way.
