Hi all. Rookie here. I stumbled onto this site a few months ago, )can't remember how) but I finally wanted to give thanks to everyone on here, incredible amounts of eye-opening knowledge about car-care. I have mostly been a lurker, but last weekend I finally did the works to my car- (2001 VW Golf) I washed with Dawn, clayed it, polished with Meguiar's #7 show glaze and topped with #26 HiTech yellow. All I can say is WOW! It took me about 4-5 hours to finish, but well worth it. if I knew how to post pic's I would show you. Anyway, if it weren't for this site, I would have never ever known about the different steps of detailing. So now I ask, what do I do now, just wash with Gold Class and keep adding #26 every couple of months or do I have to Dawn/clay/polish/wax every 6 months? I have more ??'s but this is getting a bit long already. Again...THANK YOU ALL for indirectly sharing your wealth of wisdom. Oh, and my car thanks you too!!

Dave :up :up :)

Great to hear you like this site.

Well you can gold class wash weekly, then add #26 monthly. You can #7 every 3-4 coats of #26, or when the surface feels a little gritty. If the #7 doesn't solve it you can clay the surface.

The dawn/clay (as needed)/#7/#26 should be done twice a year or even ONCE a year if you keep the car in tip to shape with weekly washings (Qd after a wash, brings back that gloss and slickness in 20 minutes or so.) Clay when the surface isn't as smooth as glass and Meguiars #7 doesn't take care of it.

If you have the picture on your hard drive you can attach it to a post.

I agree DaVW. This forum and its members have taught me an incredible amount. Products I had seen on the shelves at my local retailer and just glanced at now I give them a second look.

Just some of the pics I've seen give me the goosebumps imagining what my new car will look like.

Now all I need is warmer weather to test these ideas and be able to post my findings

Yea it is hard to maintain, first dark color car I've had. But I love how I had just dried it, but it still looks wet! Thanks again, it took me a few minutes to see that attach file section, I kept trying to figure out the IMG above to no avail. Car is actually dark blue.

This is going to be an addicting site. :)

Happy Birthday bigmikela, hope you have a great day with the family.:happybday::bday cake::happybday:
