This was basically a 4 day project for me. Our 1994 Montero SR previously had Meguiar's Gold Class wax on it, now it has Klasse SG x2. It was getting late and the sun was going down when I took these pics, so these were the best shots I could get.

Thursday after work: Dawn wash and clay.

Friday after work: AIO 1st coat

Saturday: AIO 2nd coat; then SG 1st coat

Sunday: SG 2nd coat

AIO dry time: 30 minutes

SG dry time: 2 hours

SG cure time: 24 hours

very nice. i can't wait to get more class on my ride.

quick question. i'm confused about the SG dry time and the cure time?? what's the difference?

Very nice :)

Dry time is how long a product dries on the surface.

Cure time relates to paint and polymer sealant. Curing is when the paint or sealant hardens and in the polymer sealants cross link. Paint form the factory is already cured because of the high temperatures the panels get baked in. Fresh paint from rpeairs might take longer to cure (time gas evaporates from paint) because it cant be baked at a high temperature because of all the parts on the car.

With klasse a cure time is needed between coats so the previous coat could cross-link/harden so the next coat can have something to layer onto.

Zaino ZFX and Blackfire eliminate this cure time with instant cross-link/curing polymers so several coats/layers can be put on in a day.

I have put on 4 applications of Klasse in one day without problems though.

Ps, Oliver, Klasse AIO does not need to dry before being buffed off

VM, It's a bit like painting, you apply a coat of paint and in one minute the solvents flash and paint looks dry, but if you touch it it's soft, the paint needs time to harden "cure".

With polymers it's a bit different, they don't just harden, the polymers need time to cross link "cure" to forum a hard layer of protectant.

so i do i need to not buff the SG out, while this curing process happens?? or does this curing time mean that that's how long i should wait in between coats?

like i applied some SG this past weekend, so does that mean my curing time is from the time i applied it till now?

Very Nice! Looks like all your hard work paid off, it's lookin' really good.

I'm assuming you prefer the look of Klasse over GC? :D

Maybe this will help you understand the SG dry and cure process. Here's what I did:

Saturday 12pm: Applied 1st coat SG.

Saturday 2pm: Buffed off 1st coat SG.

Sunday 2pm: After 24 hours of letting SG cure, I applied 2nd coat of SG.

Sunday 4pm: Buffed off 2nd coat SG.

Monday (today) 4pm: After another 24 hours of curing, I will try to apply 3rd coat of SG.

Monday (today) 6pm: Buff off 3rd coat of SG.

Jason:

Now I know. Thanks. :up I'm glad I only waited 30 minutes for AIO to dry, which only set me back 1 hour total time.

Mike:

Oh yeah, Klasse looks and feels better than Gold Class.

<strong class='bbc'>that montero is sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet!!! how many miles? [/b]</blockquote>
Thanks DCopp. It only has 70k miles. It's usually used in spurts. For example, one year it will rack up about 20k miles. The next year, it will be used sparingly and get about 8000 miles. Next year, another 20k miles. Now, it's hardly being used, so I'd say less than 8000 miles this year.

The mileage always changed because of work locations and lack of alternate vehicles. I don't really like keeping a vehicle parked too long like that, but this Montero SR is an exception because this engine was only made from 94-96 due to high cost of repair. It's a very complicated engine to work with. But it sure is a great SUV to drive!
