As annoying as curb rash is, to some extent it is inevitable on a car which is driven regularly.



So, my own take is that so long as you haven't marred the spokes (:mad: - I have), I'd let it go till it's a bit worse than that.
 
it's my biggest fear with my car besides all those fears that are out of my control..

but i agree. i'd wait until it really needs it.

dumb question:

can it be sanded to lessen the mark?

i say u let it go. if u want to spend $200 that badly to make ur car look better, go get some new stuff from CMA or MF towels or even a porter cable if u dont already have one. :D

There was a thread on the maintenance threads about a wheel company that repairs wheels. Search it I forget but a company in Pa. has some used wheels and repairs wheels. It looked very interesting. Check it out.
 
I think I would wait just because that is pretty minor. If it was really rashed on a larger section then I'd bring it in. Looks like you have cast iron rotors too. "Honey, you know I have to drive the car right after I wash it or the rotors will rust". :p
 
With the mark being that small for $200, I would let it go. Shop that price around, $200 seems high for that small of a road rash.
 
Irvin: Is your car a daily driver or a show car? If it is a daily driver and/or $200.00 is more than you can spend right now let it go. If it is a show car then you must get it fixed. BTW, how much does it cost to purchase a brand new replacement rim?
 
Try fixing it yourself. I have polished aluminum wheels on my supra and scratched then one day. At first I thought it was bad but after about an hour with the Dremule tool and some 600 then 1000 grit sand paper. They look just like new. Another thing to consider is how often this happens to you, some people scratch there rims everyday and some don't. I have been driving for 10 years now and have only scratch up one rim. Defiantly get them fixed; come on it's a Porsche not a pinto. 200 bucks does seem high though. I would try to find a cheaper place. Around here it's about $125 per wheel.
 
Well, if that is the front wheel, then a new 18x7.5 inch one is $345 from AAA-Rims. I'd get a new one for $145 more, or keep the damaged one and buy a PC 7247 instead :D
 
Good Advice. If it is not a show car, skip it. Few, if any, people will notice. Wait until it is worse, then repair, or look for a new wheel, cheap.
 
Well.. a new set of wheels would cost me around $3500 US

so i don't think i will get a new set anytime soon.. maybe if i totally destroy the wheel.
 
I had to really look to see the rash, you know it's there but for the average person the damage would probably have to be TDC for them to realize it unless of course you were pointing it out. Knowing it's there though could make you crazy thinking about it. Check out Wheelcollision.com, they have a reputation for quality and price. They are in PA. which I think someone else mentioned.
