Hands free law in Cali

Now if they'd only ban eating a bowl of cereal when you drive.... :eek:



That guy was pretty typical of what I see every day. The cops don't see it though, too busy sitting in medians with the radar guns instead of enforcing the other 1000 traffic laws.



There are already distracted driving laws on the books, just enforce them, ticket the morons who are too stupid to drive and talk on the phone and leave the rest of us alone. /rant
 
The law is in effect here in Washington as of July 1st. I got kinda screwed because I had to buy the snazzy, expensive, bluetooth because I have 2 phones. I still have to hold my nextel to push the talk button. If saftey is the real issue then I suspect that will change soon. And then I will go to the wireless store, bend over, and get the new bluetooth.



When I left California they had just banned public smoking, and shortly after I arrived in Washington they did the same. The phone law was passed at the same time here and there.



It pisses me off to know that I can be pulled over for talking on the phone but if the guy in the next car is swerving because he is steering with his knee and stuffing a triple whopper down his face, he is doing nothing illegal.

He could (failure to maintain control) if the cops didn't only set up with the radar gun on the side of the road.
 
It's hands free here in CT for I think 1 or 2 years now. But all the cops drive and use their cells phones all the time. I miss my house phone. Sometimes I wish thats all we had.
