Hand-only combo for daily driver

Hey all,

My usual process is GEPC/S100 but as my supplies are running out and situation has changed, I'm looking for something new. Kids and other stuff has made detailing sessions infrequent and the garage is now home to bikes and big wheels instead of my car.

I'm leaning towards a sealant even though I've always used a carnuba. I do have NXT but it did not do that much for me. Ease of use is very important, that's why I've been using S100 for all these years.

So, looking for a by hand-only combo for a black metallic (VW black magic paint) for a daily driver with ease of use and durability as prime requirements. JW Prime (strong) + AJT has caught my attention for ease of use, how does it look on black metallic (some reports favor it for light colors)?

Thanks Autopia.

If I were going to recommend a combo for ease of use and durability, it would be Duragloss 101 & 105.

DG 101 has decent cleaning ability and leaves a light layer of protection. DG 105 on top will give great durability and a very good look.

Each product is very easy to use, and the combo is really cheap (less than $20 for both products)

ZAIO and Clear Seal are very easy to use by hand. They also look great on black and last a long time. Z8 as a topper and wow!!! So just order the zaino triplets. :)

For hand use I recommend 3M Imperial Hand Glaze topped with your choice of wax, P21S looks awesome on top.

Either DG or Zaino products mentioned above work great by hand! I'd have to say ZAINO lasts longer, but DG is cheaper and you can usually get it locally.

If working by hand, I'd use 1Z polishes (which one would depend on the severity of the marring), topped with Collinite wax.

Clean out the garage, regain it, men have rights to!

When that fails, try Collinite 476s wax (it's a carnuba at a reasonable price), it lasts practically as long as a sealant, not hard to apply, beads like crazy and has a very good look. The more I use it the better I like it.

Changeling

I would agree with the Collinite 476s for durability, just put it on "super thin" and it wipes off with ease. If you want to try a new paint cleaner by hand, give Clearkotes Vanilla Moose a shot, that was developed to be used by hand. I have used that combo for our black Honda with satisfactory results and lasted a good 5 winter months. :)

Thanks for the responses.

Wax only, my vote will be One Grand Blitz. See the One Grand Blitz Wax Thread that was recently posted...!

LOL, when I first joined Autopia IHG and Blitz was the flavor of the month. This is what I used until I got tired of the trim staining and found S100. Whats the shelf life of IHG? I think I still have some, my Blitz can rusted out though.

I"ll have to read up on the duragloss 101/105 and collinite threads

For duragloss, zaino, or JW; which looks better on dark metalics?

again, thanks all.

Not to hijack, but your combo is what I have planned for winter. I'm happy to see your endorsement. I'm new to detailing and so far have only tried a few products, and only by hand. I think it will be a good fit for me & my long winter.
