Hand applied abrasive polish recommendation

I am in the market for a fine abrasive polish/swirl remover to apply by hand prior to an application of AIO. What product would you recommend?

ColorX is pretty good with removing oxidation and swirls. If you have major swirls, then ScratchX should do the job. All can be done before AIO.

The paint is metallic black and some bird droppings have etched it in 2 spots. I'll give the Scratch-X a try.

Just make sure you clean the surface well with the clay and wash first. Good luck!

Mothers Scratch Remover is also a good polish for hand application. (Needs to be worked in though. But so does ScratchX.)

Meguaires has a good How-To on removing swirls by hand with scratch X..

Bird-bomb etching can be tough (or even impossible) to remove.



Noting that these products are discontinued (but still available) I'd start with 3M PI-III MG (05937) and if that doesn't do it then I'd use PI-III RC (05933) and then follow up with the 05937. These are my go-to products before the Klasse twins and they work fine by hand.



I really like 1Z polishes by hand but they leave wax which the AIO will remove, sometimes uncovering leftover marring.

For bird poop etching, I hit it with rubbing compound first, then follow up with ScratchX to remove the fine scratches left from the compounding. Always does the trick for me.
