HACK alert ! ! !

Whoa! I can hear the paint cry in that Ranchero vid! :(

That Escalade video was hilarious, It was the ultimate dry buff, that too with a rotary!! :pound: :behindsofa:

I checked out some of his vids and it appears as if he applies some stuff(polish/aio)over the paint by hand and "literally" buffs it off!!! :pound:

I hate to think what the Escalade and Ranchero look like in the full sun. What I would like to think is that the owners gave him a good beat down for jacking up their vehicles.

Not sure what is sadder, what is being done to the Escalade or seeing how far Mark Hamill has fallen since Star Wars.

While we are all "laughing" at this "detailer", unfortunately there are those who view this video and Mr. Slugg's videos and think this is the way to use a rotary buffer. This is a REAL problem in getting your information and experience off the internet.

What is even worse is that this what the general public comes to expect from a detailer: a vehicle filled with swirls and holograms MUST mean it's been detailed. Fortunately we have this Autopia forum and its professionals and enthusiasts to give those who do want to detail their vehicles the insite and proper methodologies of what is correct and what is unacceptable, and what is downright just plain BAD.

The professionals within this forum have long lamented about bad detailers (AKA, hacks) giving detailing a bad reputation, especially when it comes to the price for their (professional's) services that seems to be excessive. As a corollary to "You get what you pay for", I say, "The best is never cheap".

You bring up a good point. Lately I've been twice as cautious taking advice from youtube videos. Not sure what it is, but youtube seems to bring out the worst "experts." It seems like the good guys are happy to keep their talent locked away (understood) and the hacks jump on and play expert. The comment system is even worse, I'd post comments, but then they'd be drowned out by people that make the hacks look smart.

My top 10 list for this vid.

1. I really think the "Moe Howard" hair cut is coming back in style and this guy is way ahead of the curve.

2. Throttling the rotary doesn't let the pad or surface get too hot. DUH, you guys are stupid, this is brilliant and revolutionary.

3. He is so precise he doesn't need to use more than a negligible amount of product on the surface. I am sure you guys use between 3-5 "pea sized dots"....losers!

4. No need to prime the pad, that is soooooo 2007.

5. You are all jealous you dont have a grip like his which allows you to maintain perfect control of the machine by holding only the rear quarter.

6. Notice how the rotary displays the right amount of "skipping" over the contours of the car. This is textbook form.

7. Taping off trim is for amateurs. A true pro knows polished trim is where its at.

8. Notice the edging of the pad actually in to the door seam, where we all know paint is at its thickest. Masterful.

9. At the 1:21-1:22 mark as he is edging the pad you can see the dust cloud fly from the pad just below it. Proving a brush or air compressor to blow out your pads is a vicious lie started by the Illuminati and Free Masons.

10. Due to the ambient lighting it was clear the front quarter panel was perfect already, what a pro!

I just watched the Ranchero video and only one thought popped in to my head:

How much did he charge the woman whose ex-husband owns that Ranchero to do this?
