Gum, help!

I have a customers car at my house tonight for a complete detail. I did the exterior, engine and vacuum tonight and will finish up the rest tomorrow after work, they're coming at 9pm to get it. Anyway, they have 2 young kids and I have found at least 3 or 4 spots of gum stuck to the carpet and a few other sticky spots that might be from "suckers".



What can I do to (try) remove these spots?
 
This might be a little vague.



Most gum i cut out with a sharp razor blade, carpet only and try to skim the top.



If it is long enough nap, hardened or in a less-noticeable spot and i didn't see shampoo solution or solvent doing much.



Over time i realized that most cut outs are not noticeable.
 
Use WD40 it should dissolve the gum down to nothing..depending how lokng its been in the carpets. after it dissolves use a dry rag to dab up the WD40.. It works.. i have 4 daughters,i've removed come from carpets to a huge wad in there hair.... let me know how it turns out...spray the WD40 directly on the gum the let it sit long enough to dissolve.
 
Hmmm Wd40? Sounds easier than the ice method and the nap is pretty short in this grand Cherokee so Id rather not cut it out. Ill let you know how this turns out!
 
Dunno if you guys can get hold of this, but Plumbers in the UK use an aerosol of 'freeze-spray' to freeze water in the pipes if they have to replace a section of pipe. This stuff is also good from freezing the gum, and makes it easy to remove.
 
Well the WD-40 wasnt very successfull. The gum was fairly ground in in 3 spots and the carpet is very short nap. I treated about 7 times and let dwell. It did definitely soften the gum and I was able to remove a little bit of it but I just didnt have time to repeat this process for hours which may have worked.

If that gum didn't come out its old as the hills :nixweiss . Take fresh piece of gum place it somewgere safe and hit with the WD40,whats ever in the WD40 will dissolve the gum ...honest. WD40 had contest as to how many ways there product could be used and i beleive it was 2,000 other uses for there products.





I have also disolved fresh tar from my tan carpets in my olds 98.
 
The gum is probably months old. They used thet truck for daily driving and towing their camper all summer from what I understand and with 2 young kids......... They were still very happy with the outcome and Im sure the new owners will be as well.
 
I wonder if a heat gun or something of the sort would soften the gum to the point it was a little melty, and then maybe the wd or something would work?



Maybe it's something completely different, but I thought as a kid I remember people using peanut butter to remove gum or something from people's hair. Maybe just a myth.
