GT4... Who got it?

Got mine yesterday since I preordered from EBgames.... This game is awesome!!! This is all I have time to type right now as it's the precious free time I have to play between studying.
 
JEALOUS--three papers due within the next two weeks (15 pages apiece). Enjoy--I'll join the discussion once this is done.
 
I got up early today to play before I had to head off to class and now I'm getting to play more before I have to head back to the library...



I got the 270R from one of the licenses (I think ia) and it's pretty nice. Used it to beat the first "special condition race" and got a Cadillac Cien... 790hp! It's a beast!
 
its awesome....a few challenges from clearing my super license..i got it on eb boutiques..ordered/paid in december:D this game is unreal
 
i dont have xbox but in terms of gt3 vs gt4 i have noticed:



1) the tracks are tigher

2) alot more blind turns

3) more complex turns(ie a "4" turn changes to a "2" turn)

4) when u hit a wall or car, your screen briefly shakes

5) braking is a lot more realistic

6) not as easy to recover when at high speeds

7) tracks are not as smooth...alot more bumps





this game is so much more complete:xyxthumbs they originally said they were going to impose a penalty system so intentionally hitting an oppenent would cause you a time penalty or a black flag but i havent seen it...im 3 laps from my super license:eek: ps if you guys havent already...go in simulation, then home, then status, then hit the start button to upload gt3 credits....and buy a new car, only after buying used cars did i figure out how to buy a new car:angry
 
jchetty, you get penalized for hitting the other car or the wall in the special conditions race. Your speed gets limited to 50 kph or something for 2-5 seconds.



It's a great game, I've been playing whenever I can for the past three days :).
 
If you do your licenses (a,b,ib,ia) and then just race with the cars you get from them, you can pretty much do a lot of the game w/o having to buy a single car... ;-)
 
i just got my copy this morning, and tried a little bit of the arcade mode. i love it. well i love the gran turismo title line, probably the best car driving/racing game out for game consoles, and pretty much the only reason why i bought a PS2! :D



and i love how you can drive a Ford Lightning and a Honda Odyssey!
 
I bought it at Circuit City the day it came out... and haven't stopped playing it since. Right now I'm using a *take a breath* Nissan 350z LM Race Car v.2002 w/ st.4 turbo and 750hp. Hit a top speed of 249.6 and ran the quarter in 9.344 :eek: I think I'm around 12% done with the game.



I'm pretty impressed with the game. There are still a few things that I think could improve (but I'm being real nit-picky) 1) On the more complex graphics courses (SS Route5 for example), I'm getting a really weird shimmering effect for about 15 seconds after I start the race. :confused:



Did anyone else win the Nike 2002 something-or-other? I want to race with it but the game wont let me... is there somewhere special I can take it other than the dragstrip (where it pulled a 12.5 btw:xyxthumbs ).



Overall I think the game is amazing... so much better than GT3.

Everyone I have heard said they are getting the shimmering effect especially if they're playing in one of the higher graphic modes. Someone sent an email out and they got a reply that they haven't heard any other complaints about it...



Nothing I have found you can use the Nike car in. You can take it on any of the tracks for practice but you can't race it for money. At least I haven't found where you can use it. I have a Plymout Prowler too and it's considered a 'special car' and I can't find a race to use it... grrr.

If you have xbox already, then just wait for Forza to come out. They're going to have damage models as well as Ferrari!



That game might force me to get an xbox... lol
