Grit rating of Perfect it III RC & usage

Earlier this week I purchased 3M PIII RC from body shop supplies, which is a short walk from my workplace

I had read here a while back about using this stuff to remove orange peel with a rotary. Couldn't find the thread though.

Have also got PII RC which is 1200 grit and I am wondering what rating this one is and if it can be used by hand.

Will be contacting my local supplier of Edge 2000 and 3M waffle rotary buff pads and plan to do some thorough practice.

Is it possible to use just PIII RC to remove peel or do I need to wet sand with 1500 and 1200 papers first.

Since so many cars have orange peel these days, this is something I want to master.

At least I finally got the stuff, so many shops have it but were charging a fortune for it.

i used the PI III RC on a friends truck to remove some sanding scratches. its pretty gritty and aggressive but it breaks down pretty good. Im planning on using it to wetsand my brothers fender, and that ill be doing with a rotory and a wool pad.

My bottle of Perfect It III Rubbing compound says it can remove grade 1000 with a wool pad and 1200 with a foam pad.

I find PI III RC to be slightly less abrasive than PI II FC RC.

I use it by hand and it works very well.

The label on my bottle opens up into a little booklet. You have to peel the end of it to open it up. Check yours.
