Grit Guard 'Loose' In Bucket ... ?

Well I had been looking around for some new buckets (I asked on here) and my research found loads of threads about 'loose' and floating grit guards (mines never floated ?).



I ended up with two chemical guys (UK) buckets and when they came, guess what ? My old grit guard was a piss poor fit :dizzy:



A few mods :



• 8 x 3mm holes

• 8 x M3x20mm SS Button heads

• 16 x M3 SS Nylocs

• 16 x M3 washers



And I have a adjustable grit guard :lol:

Fits perfect, works well, easy to adjust for future :D

ps : Yes, my grit guard is purple (to match the car I had when I bought it ), if anyone has a matching one they want to sell, please pm me ... :wink1:
 
Nice retro. The fins are not touching the sides of the bucket..will this cause the crap to get stirred up?
 
My grit guards don't fit tight, never had a problem with them floating or not keeping the crud at the bottom.

It seems to work as well as my last bucket, I think the gap is small enough not to make any differance :D

Ref floating : me neither, I got the impression from the posts I had read that they may have changed the material to something less dense ? My grit guard is about eight years old and is made from a hard plastic, maybe glass filled pp ?

I wonder the same thing. The Grit Guard was too big to fit on the bottom of my bucket so I cut off the outer "ring" of the guard. Now it is slightly loose. The larger grit seems to keep floating on the top.

I actually have 2 of these buckets and my grit guards fit perfect in one and the other it's loose. Not that it's floating or really moving around, but when I dump the water out of my bucket the grit guard goes with it.



Like the idea of the screws! Very clever.

Yes; and I was puzzled that the grit guards are too large to get down to the bottom. They stick in the buckets about 2 inches from the bottom. Have no idea if this is intentional and desirable, or not.

Seriously? That is terrible! Can anyone else comment on the AG wash buckets?
 
I was brusquely told that the grit guards are supposed to be that size so one doesn't have to submerge so much of an arm to reach them.
 
You could use a wash board if that was the case.
