Griots has officially jumped the shark

..sponge products/swabs they sell are great quality..

Argh...they quit selling the double-ended swabs (plastic stick, white/blue on one end, angled white on the other) that I really liked. Those were my all-time favorites :(

..Interior Cleaner is great (but don't use on older printed symbols on turn signal stalks;it removes markings).

Interesting! I never had that happen and I've always considered their Interior Cleaner to be my "always safe" choice. Hmm...I'll be more careful in the future, thanks for the heads-up!

I wish they would sell the sponge that comes with their wheel cleaner as a separate item..

Yeah, that *is* a nice sponge!

And their foam pads are *VERY* nice, for what they are..I use 'em a lot.

Can you elaborate on this? I considered trying their pads out, but what do you mean "for what they are"? How do they compare with Megs and LC foam pads?

Griot's products I'd hate to be without:

-Speedshine (for use over waxes)

-Car Wash (only one I use)

-Rubber Prep (freakin' miracle product)

-Polypropylene Window Wipes

Not sure which of those (other than the Speedshine and Car Wash) are likely to be at AA though. I use other stuff from Griot's but nothing else that couldn't be replaced by something from another source. The four above are simply unique IME.

You could add their polisher to the list too, and I've been *VERY* happy with my new 3" pneumatic RO from them (b-day gift from Accumulatorette).

When you say car wash are you talking about the waterless wash? I know we've had these products at our local AA since last year (right when you walk in the door it has its own rack. First thing you see). I just did recently buy some of their microfiber towels. They feel really nice. I haven't used them yet though. A bit on the expensive side to me. $16 for 3 towels. I do know I've seen their Speedshine, Car wash, Tire dressing and a few others. I will have to run by today and check again. What is it about speed shine that you like? I've personally never used it. Just a booster to wax?

I went to Advanced yesterday to see what they had. I bought a bunch of expensive MF and a wash mitt. The other stuff did'nt seem like anything speacial.

Almost bought the AIO seant polish and QD.

No, the conventional shampoo.

Huh, didn't have 'em at ours the last time I was in.

It leaves things nice and shiny (eh, I know..lots of leaves-stuff-behind QDs do that) and does serve as a nice wax booster. Good drying aid that seems to wash out of my WWMFs just fine.

It does leave some decent stuff behind; I've been surprised to see more/better beading than I'd expected when I've used it to clean off bird-bombs.

And it's Accumulator-proof, zero streaking or other issues no matter how carelessly I've used it. Never messed with the wax either, even when said wax was fresh; I've had other QDs (which I still use/like) that have caused issues like that (e.g., FK425 causing *horrible* pseudo-holograms when used over fresh Collinite).

But I don't like using it as clay lube, even though they really push it for that. The wax/whatever seems to render the clay less effective. Doesn't mess up the clay, just seems to interfere with the decontamination to some extent. Does leave things nice and clean post-claying though, seldom any need to rewash/etc.

I may end up trying some of the speed shine. I usually make a qd out of ONR but have been wanting to find something different to try. It's gonna be that or Meg's Final Inspection. I can get a gallon of it for $30 I think.

I like those too. I'm down to my last two. Didn't know this. Always picked a large variety bag up at shows each year. Maybe will get lucky and they will still have a stash in the mobile displays.

CONCOURS.JOHN- If you ever find another source for them I hope you'll post (or even PM me) about them. I too bought them in big batches and that kinda bit me as I didn't think to reorder soon enough.

I figure that Griot's just got 'em from *somebody* and remarketed them, the trick will be to find out who it was

The Griot's SpeedShine is *VERY* different from M34, about as different as two QDs can be. While I like/use them both, it's always a this-or-that choice, not like I'd ever have a situation where I'd be OK using either one.

I've been on the hunt for the very reason of finding out who makes them. Guess I now need to dig more earnestly. Definitely will post or PM a find.

:think: I live in the largest city in KY, yet the closest AAP that has it is 40 miles away. I did not see any in Lexington either, none in the 2 largest metro areas in hillbilly land.

I could have sworn I have seen one or more in Louisville. If I see one, I will shoot you a message.

The ones near me in bucks county pa sell them. Picked up the leather care and interior cleaner today. Used discount codes online to do in store pick up. Selection is limited to the basics. I ordered the blue detail sponges as they said they were in stock but they were not.

Anyone know if we buy from AA of we are still covered by the 180 day guarantee. I sent an email to griots tonight and am awaiting a response.

My local AAP has their stuff now.

ndtechie05- IIRC (and I might not!) there have been a few issues with the warranty claims when people buy stuff from resellers as opposed to direct from Griot's. I can't quite remember for sure how they got it sorted out. For a big-ticket item like the polisher, I might go with a direct order.

I agree, when I warrantied mine a few months ago, they asked who I bought it from, when I warrantied my first one last year, they didn't ask who I bought it from, so now it DOES matter.

Lovely. I figured since I bought from an AUTHORIZED reseller they would honor their guarantee.

Boo!

How are the long reach wheel cleaner and the green 4 finger pads?

We'll find out shortly, I just ordered two sets from 'em!

EDIT: NO, they *do not* have the double ended ones :( Order cancelled...
