Griot's Garage 6? RO OR Meguiars G110v2? Input Needed......

Hi all,

I just got back from looking at some rims that this guy is trying to get rid of. It looks pretty dirty and had some scratches on the side of the rims, but my main concern is that the outer layer of the rim seems to be peeling off. It seems that a coat is coming off of the rims. I'm just wondering if this is fixable and if it is, how would I fix something like this.

Thanks

One is to obtain some Chevron Aircraft Stripper and remove the clear.

Two is to send them to a shop that has a "media blaster" to remove the clear from the wheels.

Once the defective clear is completely removed totally from the wheels you may then have a shop reapply the powdercoat, acrylic or polyester clear to the wheels.

If you wish, you may also attempt to polish the raw aluminum alloy to a shine. This will be difficult with out the correct equipment and polishing agents and expertise.

Then, they will be a real bear to maintain.

In short, they had better be available at a really good price, as it costs quite a bit to return them to their original state.

Need to know from the people that have actually used these machines?.

Even better if you have worked with both.

Again, please limit discussion to these two machines and 1st hand experience.

Thanks in advance..

Griot's Garage 6? RO

OR

Meguiars G110v2

I just recently got the GG 6" RO. Unfortunately, due to the cold and nasty winter here in NJ, I haven't had the opportunity to use it yet. I too, was on the fence about these two machines. The two reasons that I went for the GG, was the lifetime warrenty and the added power.

I wish I could be more help. I can't wait to try it out.

Barry... when you say "added power", what are the stats on that?

Here you go Bill

More Powerful 7-Amp, 850-Watt Motor
2,500 - 6,800 Orbits Per Minute
Variable Speed, Wider RPM Range
Wider 5/16" orbit pattern for faster and better results
Ergonomic Adjustable Handle
More Torque, Better Performance
Longer 10 Foot Power Cord
Backing plate included

I hope this helps.

On a flat surface I can "hammer down" pretty good on the G110V2 and still have very good rotation. A noticeable difference over the XPPC. Less vibes and feels better in my hands then the XPPC too.

Sorry to bring another machine into the thread, but that is all I can compare the V2 to.

Exactly what I was looking for. To be honest, I'd like to have one of each of the RO's! I'm sure I could find room on my shelf!:drool5:

I'm a big DA user. Love them and always have. I own a G100, G110, and now, a G110V2.
I absolutely love it. It is so smooth and balanced......even with the larger 2.0 7" pads. When I first turned it on, I had to double check my settings. It was so quiet and smooth so I looked and it was on 6....not 3.

Power is way above the G110. Cut well with 105. Polished well with 205.

I have not used the Griots model but I can highly recommend the new V2.

All it takes is a phone call or a little peckin on your keyboard Bill and the big brown truck will stop in front of the house....just think ,then you can write us a review....

The GG is more powerful, though. :)

I thought you're a rotary guy. What do you use the v2 for?

I know of 4 well known rotary users that are now using the G110V2 for about 90% of their work. They are getting the same level of correction in less time.......hours less.

I believe the DA is the way of the future for paint correction and that we will see more advances in chemicals, pads, and machines over the next couple of years....if not sooner.

Now that has my interest. Same level of correction, I believe, but hours less? Than a rotary? Explain.....
