Yesterday I washed the car and put on a coat of Blitz. Overnight it rained on my clean car (I don't have a garage.) Can I QD it without washing again?

If it rained and you did not drive the car in the rain I think you will be just fine with a QD.Just make sure no grit splashed up or blew on the car and QD away.Good luck

I'd agree with Todd. as long as nothing abrasive got on the car you should be fine, unless ya got some REAL bad acid rain there:P

Jeez, dont you folks realize the dangers of rain water? First off I would get litmus paper and determine the exact acidity of the rain water. Then neutralize the paint pores to protect the flex agents of the clear coat if necessary. Once that occurs, I would follow with a complete application of the ABC system, followed by a Dawn wash with a complete dry using only a 150MPH leaf blower (which I pretested using the CD-Test), followed up by only blotting using a YoSteve towel (CD-Test approved).

On the other hand, you could just go ahead and quick detail. Not everyone needs to be anal.

Simply pull out the hose give the car a good rinsing ,blot dry and QD. The rinsing will wash off any small crud that was in the rain and dilute any acid also. No need to rewash with soap unless there is visible film from pollutants.

The soap whether you want to hear it or not will strip a little bit of your wax or whatever your using. I don't buy into that "doesnt strip" junk anymore, they all do, just minimal to the point where it doesn't take off ALOT but it's still removing some.

I would do as blkz28conv said, just hose it down with a strong mist spray hose nozzle and blot dry. From there you can quick detail spray the car.

One thing you should NOT do is get all stressed about this issue. I tend to think that washing again is the best idea, but I myself have QDd after a rainstorm with no ill effects. If the car doesn't look too dirty, it's safe to QD. If you are careful and use plenty of lubricant, you'll be OK.

You could QD but it's the paint of using all that QD. Just hose the car off and blot dry, after that if you see the need for QD then go for it, more than likely you won't need to and you'll save yourself some car soap, save yourself from striping some of the wax, save your QD and most important, your time :)

I would rather wash my car after rain than QD it. As many have said, there is too much in rain water and you do run the risk of crud getting blown on the car.

If you do decide to use car shampoo, use VERY VERY little, you don't need much if it's just rain. Washing your car after rain is somewhat overkill if you use the regular ratio of shampoo to water, the soap will be too strong for the job and just strip more wax than it should.

I wouldn't wash but if you want to that is what I would suggest.

Now that TID has no retail affiliate, I'm guessing that this is OK for me to post, if not please delete and I apologize.

Mr Gloss:

Thank you.....yes they still do.

Until they stick me in the cold, cold ground, the rule still apply!

Da Rules!

Not trying to start an argument, but for clarification, which rule did I break?

I don't remember throwing in a hyperlink, but perhaps I did.

Shills. How quickly they forget. Da Rules!

It takes some effort to add a link. It's always done intentionally, not by accident.

Shill exposed! The extreme effort of the 'CTRL+V' was indeed an intentional and clever ruse to rob the innocent and make Amazon millions.

With Good Samaritans around, who needs Admins?
