Griots DA

Do you think it's worth purchasing a 2nd Gen DA while they are being marked down? Less than $100 seems like a deal for one but I'm not sure I can justify the purchase other than having something more powerful that my PC.

I already have a Flex 3401 and a PC (not the XP model).

My latest Griots DA is a HUGH disappointment. My old one would remove 2000 grit sanding marks, this one won't remove 3000 grit marks

I'm finding myself using my rotary more and more these days

That's not what I want to hear but it does help. My main concern was durability but if power is inconsistent from machine to machine then that's a different issue

If it will make you feel better I'll edit my post and tell you how AWESOME the Griots machine is

I guess this discussion gets to be reset when the new Griot's is available so prior observations may be invalid.

Anyone pre-ordering one through AG?

I'm pretty sure the new Griots is the same motor as the 2nd gen. It has more rubber and trim to make it more comfortable though. I've read on AG that it will have no performance difference.

I've thought about it but I'd like to know if it will be more durable than the 2nd gen unit. While it may be the same motor I wonder if they upgraded the bearings or pieces that fail. At some point it has to eat into profits to replace broken units

It does eat into profits, so you can imagine how much GG pays China per unit.

i hope griots gets it rite this time,to many people are on the fence about it.its like every other person has problems with the current da

I have never had any issues with my Griots DA. I love it. I would get a second. Heck you could have one all set with 4 inch pads.

Considering that it has a lifetime warranty I would return it is I were you. If what you describes is FAQ then there is something wrong with it.

I don't feel like gambling $25. Who's to say the next one won't be a p o s?

When I need power I use the rotary

i've got the griot's 6" and 3" professional models. never had a problem out of either and love them. does the 2nd & 3rd version have a different motor from the pro model ?
