Are the GRIOT products worth a darn?

Just bought a 11 Mustang GT 5.0 vert, and want to keep up with it looking good.

Remembered Griot products from awhile back.

What is the must haves for keeping this car pretty.

I have never had a convertible top, what is the best way to keep it in good condition?

Thanks

Matt

I can only speak for their show car wax, car shampoo, and window cleaner.

They are all worthwhile products. The real question is are you fixed on Griot's or does affordability factor into you stocking your weaponry.

The window cleaner is as streak free as any. The wax applies and removes effortlessly, although I cannot speak on longevity.

Shampoo has a very thick lather and smells nice.

Whatever works, and does a good job is what i am looking for.

The car won't be daily driven, but I want to keep it looking nice.

This is all new to me, I don't want the discount cheap-o stuff, but don't want to refinance the house to clean up the car.

How do you "take care" of the 'vert top?

I would say look at the products by Rag Top for your vert. They have a great reputation with convertible owners.

Autopia-CarCare.com sells some of the best quality, best performing car care products and chemicals on the market. We are proud to offer Griot's Garage among those.

Keeping your car (in your case that new Mustang) looking its best isn't just a matter of having high quality chemicals/prodcuts (this does play a big part) but really using the right techniques.

Perhaps the number on factor in keeping your paint looking new/factory fresh is going to be how careful you are when washing it. What ages paint (visibily) the most is millions of microscopic scratches that occur when dirt is rubbed against it. Over time these scratches will cause the paint to look dull and worn.

Read this article: How to wash your car using the two-bucket method) to get started.

I would start your product selection with two 5 gallon wash buckets, two Grit-Guards, and several Cobra Waffle Weave drying towels. Add a high quality wash media and high-lubricity soap and you are on your way to keepin that pony looking great.

Remember as a member of AutopiaForums you get some really good discounts at Autopia-CarCare, so use them! Best of luck, take a look around the forum, and feel free to ask any questions. There is a lot of talent here that is always willing to help.

Remember one thing, your new convertible top has been protected by WOLFSTEINS PRO SERIES product RaggTopp from the factory. It's use on almost every convertible top made world wide. If any problems be free to call our great friends at WOLFSTEINS at (770) 395-0020 or (800) 377-4700.

I have been using Griot's products for since 2008. I just did my winter detail on my XC70. It has nice bead rite now with polish 4 and the best of show wax. The only product i m unsure of the longevity of their vinyl/rubber dressing on my body cladding and tires.

Griots products work and are a good value. With such a wide variety of products available it is sometimes difficult to pick one. My base product line is Meguiars, but they don't offer everything. As time goes on I buy a product here and there and compare it to Meguiars, if it works better good, if not, can you say half used container of product on the shelf? I have compared Griots products to Meguiars and in some instances, Griots has won me over. The thing to remember, products change, there is always something new and better. Oh and my last rule of thumb, if you absolutely love a product just wait it will be discontinued or reformulated into being useless.

Nice looking car! Looking into getting one myself, no convertible though.

You really cant go wrong with any products that are offered here. Find on some that fit your budget and learn how to use them properly and you will be set.
For ease of use and quality products I cant say enough about the Ultima line of products, they all work great.

I've used Griot's prewax cleanser as a preliminary step to applying a sealant; good value and it worked well.

The Griots GG6 is an excellent DA polisher.
The Heavy Duty Wheel Cleaner is also a good value (and fun to watch).
PreWax is OK but like Carpro Eraser a bit better.
Used One Step Sealant for the first time today. Easy to use, cleans quite well, and leaves a slick, glossy finish. Isn't the best smelling product, though and no idea about longevity.

I own both of their random orbital polishers - great products

x2 on the Ultima line - so easy and great protection - no buffing..

This is my favorite product they make. Economical and works really nice. Most of their products are decent and usually more econical than some others out there.

I agree with him. The GG6 is a very powerful and capable machine. It removes defects very quickly with its potent motor. I also think that the motor's very smooth as well. You can't beat its lifetime warranty.

That's a nice looking car. I haven't tried the the Griots line but I would love to try their wax and sealant ling. You will be on the right track with any of their stuff I believe.
