This is one of the other cars David and I was able to take care of while we were out in Huntsville AL. The owner had just got back from his trip to Texas and the front of the car was covered with bugs. This car had never been washed and only wiped down with MF towels and detail spray, So I knew I was going to have some surface marring. Lets begin!
This is the car when I arrived.
Notice in this picture, you can clearly see the surface scratches from "just wiping with detail spray"
For the first step of the decontamination stage I used Megs Body solvent to help release the bugs from the bumper (this product OK, I wont be buying any again, I would rather buy Tardis, or Tarminator next time)
While that is working on the bugs, David and I use Sonax Full Effect to clean the wheels
(I love this wheel cleaner because it completely pH balanced and safe for all wheels and does an amazing job actually "cleaning" the brake dust)
This is the Sonax reacting with the iron particles of the brake dust
On these wheels I used the Wheels Woolie and other various brushes to help agitate the wheels
Notice even after thoroughly cleaning the wheels, there are still a few clumps of tar left behind. to remove these these, I used the Megs solvent and wheel woolie to clean it off.
Next we pre rinse the paint, dislodging and loose/heavy debris.
Next we give the car a foam bath to help give suspension to the dirt on the surface
After washing the paint we moved onto the motor which was pretty dirty
First the pre-rinse
Then some APC was applied and agitated
then rinsed and treated with 303 protectant
Next we move to the claying step, this is a very important step, you always want to make sure you get the paint surface as pure and clean as possible. We used Clay Magic blue fine clay and Dodo juice Born Slippy
then we used the Metro Vac N Blow and MF towels to dry off the car
Next we taped up all trim and plastic using Meguiars masking tape
For this car we used the Meguiars MF DA system on the Griots 6in DA and Megs G110 polishing with Tang pad and m205 (any deeper marks were removed with surbuff and M105)
to clean up the tail pipes we used bushes aluminum plolish
glass cleaned using Megs Class cleaner Concentrate
