Greetings..new guy with Silver CLK500

Congratulations Lynn on your new car. I remember the joy of anticipation the 6 months I waited for my 03 M3. Due to what I learned on this board I was adamant about not letting them touch the exterior of the car. I think the dealerships only issue with this is that they put the car in the showroom the day of the pickup, but I held my ground.

As an illustration of the importance of doing this, I recently had my car in for service, and as usual I informed them to not wash the car. Well, they screwed up and washed it anyway. My car is Jet Black and as soon as the sun came out I noticed the swirls and cobwebbs in the paint they induced. I know I didn't do it, because due to my learned technique my imperfections showed up linear in a longitutinal plane. So what did I do two days ago? I washed, polished Meg #80., then AIO, and finally Klasse SG. The world is now right again.

I also have a light colored vehicle, and have found Klasse to be an incredible refective, durable sealant.

Not sure who makes its thats why i'm asking. there was a bucket of cleaning supplies that came from the MB dealer in Charlotte, NC. the products are badged MB/Meguiars. i will post a pic when i get the chance

I was told Megs does make some polishes exclusively for MB , branded in MB labeled bottles. I assume they are formulated for the Ceramiclear paint. Otherwise, Menzerna and Valugard are the only others I know that have polish for it.

Nope, the stuff Deanski has, but as I understand, the IP and then the FP could follow but not necessary especially if polishing by rotary. By rotary you can go straight to LSP :up

hey all, here are some pics of the products that came with the car purchase.

safe to use on 2004 CLK-500?

These formulas were manufactured specifically to Mercedes-Benz requests. The paint care products are completely safe for all paint types including the new Ceramiclear.

Meguiar's Professional line products also work very well as I have had a few Mercedes-Benz cars with this new paint system at our Saturday classes and had the chance to compound and polish the finish. I found the two or three that I have worked on to be easy to work defects out of.

Saturday classes!? Can I sign up?

PC.

Tomorrow's class is for the SoCal New Beetle Club and there are only 14 people signed-up for it. So if you want to sign-up in there thread, you can attend. We limit the classes to 30 people.

Thanks for the info Mike. Is it ok to use a Porter Cable with the Meg's ? and if so what pad do you recommend?

Sure! you can use the Mercedes-Benz products by machine. I would recommend the Meguiar's W-8006 foam polishing pad or another company's equivalent.

Keep the speed between 3 and 5 and you should be OK.

Mike, just to be totally sure I understand, these products are formulated specifically for Mercedes but work similarly to the Professional line we are all familar with? In other words, the Professional line works just as well as this line?
