Great Zaino story!

I was at a Tips and Tricks Detailing event and this guy had a Porsche Carrera that was a few years newer than mine but the exact same color-Polar Silver. I was busy and didn't talk to him for a long while but noticed during the day he kept hanging around my car eyballing it really close. Then he would leave, go out to his car, come back to mine and repeat the process over and over. Finally he drove his car into the garage next to mine and compared side to side. I was mystified.

At the end of the event he introduced himself and said he couldn't get over how two cars the exact same color could look so different. "How, he asked, can your car look so much better than mine? I am a detailing fanatic. I baby my car. I wax it all the time. I use the right towels. I do may of the things you discussed today. I was so proud of my car until today. Yours has so much 'pop' compared to mine." He was flabergasted, scratching his head.

I had to laugh. "Let me introduce you to Zaino", I said. :D In fact, I had three coats of the brand new Z2 on my Carrera.

I have been beta testing it for a month or so and it is incredible. Compared to the old Z2 it has a sharper reflection and is a bit brighter or glossier. It's more than a incremental evolution, it's a pretty big jump. :up (The new Z5 is just as awesome and fills better, too.)

Anyway, most people like my car well enough but this guy was real picky and a good detailer and it was the first apples to apples comparison I ever had. I was pretty proud. :D

Too bad Sal does not date the bottles of Zaino! I may have the new Z2, recvd last month. It's pink in color. I know the Z5 is old, somewhat orange in black bottle.

Noww if he can make Z2 to cure quicker w/o the use of ZFX.

Ok, ok ok! You Zaino-holics are starting to wear me down. ;)

My husband asked me tonight when I was going to get bored with this "detailing thing". (Bless him, he meant it in a nice way.) I told him there were products out there I haven't tried... Blackfire, Platinum, Zaino...

Nice story, Brad! Excellent shine... and on silver, too. :bigups

Great story, Brad.

Since you obviously have used the new Z2, I was wondering if you noticed any improvement in the dust attraction issue. That is one thing that irritates me about my Zaino'ed car, also silver. And would you recommend stripping off the old Z2 first or apply the new Z2 right over the old layers?

I haven't really noticed the dust situation yet. I am a Z6 fanatic, dust barely has a chance to settle. But it's something I will watch.

One think I noticed with the New Z is that it dries faster allowing quicker applications and multiple coats if using ZFX. Nice time saver! Just as easy, if not easier, to buff off than ever.

I removed the old Z completely for a clean test versus some panels left with old Z. But, they are completely compatible and there is no real need to strip the old. If you have a good base of the old Z now I would just add the new Z on top.

BTW, did he say what he was using on his car?

Currently he is using Zymol.

I noticed that with the new z-2 the dust attraction is about the same as the old z-2 but it's still much less than say OG blitz. :xyxthumbs

I actually went and re-did my 1999 silver Taurus with the Z-2 pro and this is the first time I have gotten some real pop out of the silve paint. I now have 2 coats on it and it looks great.

Done. If you have not tried Z2 Pro it dries almost instantly now and is fool proof. Even without the ZFX.

Disclaimer - You should still use the ZFX the first time, if putting multiple coats on at once and every year.

Brad .. can you tell us something more about a new Z5? Just how much better is the filling ability of the sealant? Is the look the new Z5 offers different from Z2 Pro?

Thanks... one very interested Z user

Not to 'jack Brads thread, but I'm experimenting with Z2 Pro over FPII using no ZFX/Z1 and the Z2 Pro/no zfx seems to be doing very well. Slickness, shine and beading are not different from the ZFX'd Z2 Pro side of my hood. I'm not recommending this to anyone, but it's an interesting experiment, given that Z2 Pro dries so quickly.

A resurrected thread...

I'll also try the Z2 Pro w/o the ZFX but I'll wait 12 hours between coats. This new Z2 Pro is really getting me excited.:)

Um...this thread is almost 2 years old...I think it's probably old Z5 now...

Yep! I took a look at the dates after tripper posted.. more wishful thinking on my part I guess :o

I sure would like to see a new Z5 from Zaino, with better filling ability! IMHO the old Z5 "does not excel" at its stated function as a swirl filling sealant! :lol

Wishes can be granted. A little bug tells me Sal is working on an upgrade to Z5. No ETA.
